Unfortunately you can inherit depression from your relatives. Luckily, there are so many better treatment options than 10 or 20 years ago, and there's no reason you can't lead a totally normal life. Teen depression has always been a problem and the teen years can be very tough on anybody, so because you are depressed now does not mean you always will. I had several friends who committed suicide as teens and it was just so sad, so stupid, and such a waste. They would be parents now with jobs and families, and would be very happy if they had not just given up when they were young (always stupid, kind of like walking out of a movie after 15 minutes, it could end up being a great movie after all!) Don't give up and talk to somebody about it. Talk to a teacher or church counsellor if your parents wont' listen to you. A lot of people are afraid to deal with depression in kids, or they think "what do they have to worry about" when in fact teens can have a lot of things to worry about between school, finding friends, pressure to choose a career, find a girlfriend/boyfriend, pressure to do drugs or other stupid things, etc.
Don't give up! I'm sure you'll do awesome. As Woody Allen said, "success is 90% just showing up." If you quit you are guaranteed to fail! Don't give up!
it's time to go to the doctor to find the true root of the problem.
do you black out when the conversations between others are occurring? if so then its multiple personality disorder. but don't worry they go away. you need to find the root of the problem. see a doctor and talk it out.
I think your mind is going a hundred miles per hour. You are assuming more than what you should be. You need to stop or else you WILL MAKE YOUR SELF SICK even if your not. Depression is not in your genes!! It is a learned behavior. And you are already learning. This is how its passed on...you hear adults talk about how your grandma had it and now your mother has it and so now its your turn to have it. It doesn't make sense to think that way. It doesn't work that way unless you really believe it. You have a choice to be how you want to be. Stop those thoughts now !! You are in a vary impressionable age where you are learning to find your self and who you are. Don't believe every thing adults say unless they are experts its wrong to say "my great grandma was depressed my grandma was also depressed now my mother is depressed and so most likely I must be too" thats wrong. Don't fall in the same viciouse cycle. And don't pass on that behavior to your healthy future children. Unless youve gone to a gene specialist or a Dr. found something physically wrong with you like your thyroid gland is out of balance (when it is it could cause depression and mood swings). Could be check by a simple blood test during your anual physical. If your are having thoughts or conversations its probobly because you have convinced your self and now your acting out the part. which is not right. You seem scared and confused about this whole family tree thing. Now if your mom and grandma are depressed I'm SURE there is more to the story. Depresson is only a symptom to the real PROBLEM. Yes, your mom and grandma are depressed because of a problem they couldn't solve. So they CHOOSE to duel about it and be sad about it instead of doing something about it. I would tell them LET IT GO!!!!! AND STOP MAKING THE FAMILY SICK with your negative behavior. I would advise you to push all of this behind you. Let it go. The more you think about it the more thoughts you will get. Distract yourself by away from that behavior by concentrating on WHAT IS IMPORTANT your life like, school, friends, and the things that you like to do. And by the way try not to talk to your friends and other family members because they can make things worse for you. If you already did. Don't do it any more. If they ask how you are just say that youve been letting your mind run 100 mile per hour for something that might not be true and that youve decided you were not going to worry about it any more and move on. In the mean time find a hobby, go running, excersise. Go out with friends. Read a book, or volunteer in your community. Help someone in need. This has a big reward in its self. You will see how good it feels to help others. Get busy and stop thinking too much. Good luck and god bless P.S Talk to god when you have those negative thoughts. tell him how afraid you are. Put yourself in his hands and BELIEVE IN HIM. He loves you and he will put your worries at ease. Just ask..
depression is not inherited but can be taught you need to take control of you own life, worry causes more worry. alot of people are depressed from time to time it does not make them a sick person. and if talking to yourself makes a person sick every one i know has big problems. it is not sick to think of suicide most do at least once it is to act on those thoughts.
