Question:
i want to see a therapist about my problems but my parents think im making my problems up but i want help and i don't no how to tell them i want to see them and i also want to no can a therapist legally tell your parents wat u say in therapy because there're paying for it or is it illegal for the doctor patient w/e confidentiality?

Answers:
Your therapist can only tell your parents if they think you are in danger of hurting yourself or others. The therapist is legally and ethically bound to keep everything else confidential unless subpoenaed by the court and then their disclosure is very limited.
They cannot tell anyone anything at all (including parents) unless you are a direct threat to yourself or someone.

IE you tell them you are really considering killing/harming yourself or another.
No------make sure you sign a privacy paper.
No, they cant tell your parents anything. Its all confidential.
NO!!...a therapist cannot tell your parents what you talk about in therapy unless you give your therapist permission by filling out a release of information form...if your therapist tells your parents anything without that form it is against the law and he should be reported..hope this helps!
Its better to talk to therapist then suffer inside.Don't worry about your parents.Go to a good licencesd therapist. Most of time a good therapist does not leak information unless you are going to harm yourself or other
They cannot tell anyone, unless they break their confidentiality meaning they lose their career and countless years of hard work!
they can tell stuff like:
you cut your self
you think of suicide
you do or deal drugs
just anything that hurts you or other people
