I'm sooo scared and freaked out!?

Question:
I'm watching this show on MSMBC called deadly encounter. Its about this mentally ill man who kept going in and out of the hostipital for his mental illness. One day when he ws out of the hostpital, he was on a subway platform in New York. There was this woman on the paltform too. Suddenly this weirdo pushes her onto the tracks just as the train is coming close and the woman has no time to get up. Usually these documentaries scare me since their TRUE, and I'm very freaked out right now. People like that dude could do something worse to me! I'm home alone right now. I cannot stay calm! HELP!!

Answers:
You are okay. If you're really scared, make sure the doors are locked. People like the man in the show are rare. They exist, but most of the people you meet (even people with mental illnesses) are genuinely nice people who do not want to hurt others. Things like you saw on the show do not happen very often.
You should definitely stop watching stuff like this if this is how you react. The chances of something like this happening to you are minuscule. You can't worry about every little thing. But just to be safe, stand back from the tracks and away from crazy people.
woah freaky, call a friend over or watch some cartoons
turn off the tv. visualize your self as not alone. like you have a friend with you and they are saying calm down you are safe right now no one is hurting you - peace...
hide in your closet with a baseball bat.
Oh, calm down. No one is going to come get you in your house. If you have such a reaction to shows like that, you have to stop watching them.
change the channel and watch something else to take your mind off of it
Relax. A big part of the reason why shows like that are so popular is because they distract people from the mundane and boring realities of their own daily lives. The chances of you being attacked by a criminal are EXTREMELY low, particularly if you follow sound safety precautions and don't put yourself in situations where you are not in control of things, such as being out alone late at night, drunk, in a bad neighborhood, or hanging out with irresponsible people. The chances of a stranger breaking into your house while you are there are almost nil.

If you are really worried about this, seek out some statistics and background on crimes in your area. You'll probably find that in most cases of break-ins, no one was at home (and the criminal knew this). In most cases of violent personal attacks, the victim knew the person who attacked them. In most cases of murder, the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time or doing something stupid (not sitting in their home watching TV).

Of course there are always exceptions, and these exceptions make for great exciting documentaries. But the reality is that it just doesn't happen like that very often. Keep in mind that there are something like 170 million people in the United States, and only a tiny fraction of this number has ever been the victim of a violent crime.

On the other hand, if being scared is part of the fun of watching these types of shows for you (as it is for many people) don't let my answer stop you! By all means continue to be frightened. Sometimes it's a good release of tension.
First of all who told you to watch that show.If your heart cant handle it then dont watch . go watch something else like comedy show or cartoon. The best thing to do when you are home alone is go out with friends for a movie or hang out all together. But u r home then lock the doors stay in your room and sleep.
