I'm so bored and feel so lonely. What to do?

Question:
I'm 37 separated with a daughter (she's not with me most of the time though). I'm so bored and lonely. I'm on parental leave so not working either. Any advice what to do?I'm not "relaxed" enough to read books so reading is not an option. Lastly I'm not interested in a relationship with another women either becasue I have not recovered from the failed raltionship yet. Thanks.

Answers:
you must make yourself socialize. look in the local paper or online for local clubs/groups for single parents and any other interests you have. join in. maybe a ping-pong or chess club or volunteer at the humane society or a bike/hike group; large churches have a variety of clubs to join. whatever interest you have, there are other folks in town who gather doing it and you need to be with them. the platonic companionship along with a common interest will bring you out of the dumps.
take a walk, seriously it will help and kind of take your mind off of everything.
Hobbies. Think about the things you tell people about yourself when you meet someone new.

"I'm into joggin, watching movies, building model airplanes" etc etc.

Think about what defines you, and expand on that.

Hey, maybe you dropped a few hobbies over the years? Well now is the perfect time to start'm up again. I understand that your level of relaxation and such can conflict with many hobbies or activities in general, but you should try to find things to do that don't require relaxation.

Reading, writing, drawing and all things alike probably are not the best right now. I don't know how "drained" you feel, but if you're able to excercise and work out, that should make you feel more energized when you're 'not' working out.

I would suggest anything physical, or even passive activities like watching movies. It's a lot easier to watch a movie no matter your mood than reading a book. I don't know if you're into videogames, but they can be fun as well as distracting which may be exactly what you're looking for.

If none of that works and you're still looking for something to do, you may want to think about starting new hobbies. Maybe pickup a musical instrument.

It all has to do with motivation.

If THAT doesn't work, you could always research the current state of our country which is pretty bad :-\ Check out my links if you're interested (you'll learn a lot about things I'm sure you don't know about, like Bush being able to cancel presidential elections if he declares a national "emergency")
