Has anyone tried the Antidepressant patch Emsam? Is it available on the NHS?
Question:
Answers:
I've not, as it is not yet available in the UK.
The FDA has just aproved it in the US, so it is likely to be too early to tell yet.
Looks like it is an old-style anti -d called selegiline which is now being marketed in patch form, as previously users had to follow strict dietary guidelines (no cheese and red wine etc) due to health risks. These risks disappear when you do not ingest the drug, making it more widely prescribable.
I'd speak to a doctor about this, as it seems there is nothing online (that I found) to say that is being particularly aimed at people with drug resistant depression.
All the best in any case.
What is the other name for it.Look for the generic name. I am on a different one called escitalopram I have only been on them for a year but to be quite honest when I look back I have always suffered with depression. These are working and i feel better it just took that time to go to the GP as people make you belive there is a stigma behind being on anti-depressants.Yours is usally a once or twice a day dose. One of the older drugs but is good. Used for parkisons awell.
