Is there anything traumatic or stressful going on in your life? How are your emotions throughout the day. If something upsetting has happened to you recently or continues to happen regularly (ie fights with a family member or friend, etc) that could cause nightmares. They're either something mental (like stress or fear), or physical (like imbalanced hormones or sleep apnea). Give it a moment of thought and just think through every aspect of your life right now, and you may find the answer.
MAYBE YOU HAVE SHARDS OF GLASS IN YOUR EYE?
There is something in your environment that is triggering the nightmares, whether it be stress, something you saw on TV, etc. You need to change whatever it is, and the nightmares will go away.
If you're a chrstian pray bfore you sleep. This might sound stupid but whenever I forget to pray I always don't sleep well. for the same reasons.
Have you been reading any particularly scary books or watching scary movies more than usual? Nightmares can also be caused by eating (especially spicy foods) just before going to bed.
Well if you have had anything bad happen to you then thats problably the reason for the nightmares. I know someone who can sorta change their nightmares into something happy, and then she goes back to sleep.
I love dreams, even nightmares. They tell you a lot of what goes on in your mind, or in the past. I honestly believe in a lot of the dream interpretations. Write down your dreams, and try to figure out what's going on in your mind. Another thing that causes nightmares is sleep apnea. Especially in the event that you feel that you aren't getting enough air in your dream. Often our fears are reflected in nightmares. It may be that you need to meet your nightmares head-on and try to put a stop to them yourself. Search for and read some dream interpretations.
When that happens to me, I try to walk around a little bit, and then settle down with a good book that I know won't give me anykind of bad vibes before I go to bed. I can get back to sleep. If I do this often enough then eventually my nightmares stop. This happened to me not too long ago, and I eventually ended up having insomnia from them, but then I started this routine and it helped. Good luck!!
They say that when you dream, you're merely viewing reality through a filter.
Maybe something happen now that triggers your memories in the past, something that you wanna forget. Maybe you don't even realize what it is actually.
Or it might be that you're stressed or you just need a change in your sleeping habit.
The current usage of the term nightmare refers to a dream which causes the sleeper a strong unpleasant emotional response. Nightmares typically feature fear or horror, and/or the sensations of pain, falling, drowning or death. They can be related to physiological causes, such as a high fever; psychological ones, such as unusual trauma or stress in the sleeper's life; or commonly for no apparent cause. Nightmares can be so stressful as to suddenly wake the sufferer in a state of distress, which may prevent falling back to sleep for some time.
Occasional nightmares are commonplace, but recurrent nightmares can interfere with sleep and may cause people to seek medical help. A recently proposed treatment consists of imagery rehearsal. This approach appears to reduce the effects of nightmares and other symptoms in acute stress disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.
If you watch too much TV you are getting a lot of violence. Turn it off early before bedtime.
Go for a walk for 30 minutes 1 hr. before bed time.
Read something light before bedtime.
Dreaming is an attempt by your mind to process the events of the day. Nightmares are just scary dreams.
Do you have problems right now? if, try to solve them. And before go to bed take a warm bath could help.
do you watch alot of horror movies? Have you faught with someone lately? maybe there is something that is bothering you...something you need to resolve. I dunno!
I found this site that says:
"What causes nightmares?
A. There is the dark side of dreams - nightmares, dreams of fear, pain, irrational bad feelings that often cannot be explained. These can become a serious peoblem when you often wake up terrified, when you even don't sleep because of fear of nightmares... Nightmares occur mostly because some problem disturbs you unconsciously but seriously. Some nightmares carry obvious symbols that may indicate where your problems are, but often it is not that easy. Sometimes they can indicate really serious problems like depressions, sometimes just an inadequacy of getting along with yourself. It's difficult. "
To get rid of the nightmares you need to get rid of the problem! What's the problem, the fear? that's what you're going to have to figure out on your own! Counld it be an exam, interview, family problem? or just as i said b4 too many movies?
A way to know what you dreamt is when you awaken and still lying in bed think about it. That is how i remember! Try it!
