I have cancer and it's making me really depressed...?

Question:
I'm only 15...

I mean what's the point of going to school, what non-existant life to I have to look forward to? I'm athiest, this life is all I have, It's all I'll ever have.

I just don't know what to do. What can I do?

Answers:
Im so sorry to hear that, i have a friend who has leukemia, its horrible for him, hes had it for a while now, and the chances of him outliving it are scarce. Why dont you enjoy life? Dont be pessimistic, there are things that you should look forward to. You never know, maybe you have a chance of surviving, in my family there have been survivors as well as people that have died. Please dont give up, there is always something better waiting for you in life. You go to school to have friends, and if anybody doesnt like you, its envy, get an education. Please talk to your family, tell them to support you in this, and dont give up. My grandfather died from cancer, he never found out, disgracefully we only saw him for a month after he was diagnosed with it, he got operated, and four days later passed away. But everyone knows that he was a happy person. You should try to get over your depression, live your life to the fullest, no matter what people think or tell you. I want you to know that you are never alone in this world, and you should talk to someone, go out, enjoy life and dont worry about anything. I dont know how serious your case is but it doesnt matter, whether its serious or not, life should be lived, and you need to find a purpose to life. Get new hobbies, i dont know what youre into, but listen to music, start drawing, anything that youre interested in. I wish you the best in life. Take my advice, even if its not all of it, i really hope that i helped. Good luck, and please never give up!!
Talk... To a counselor. Or something. You really need a less pessimistic view on life. My grandpa has less than two months to live with lung cancer, he's accepted it and moved on with life. Just try to do what makes you happy, what life you have ahead of you should be the happiest ever, not just the sad, cold emptiness that you have let it become.
I can certainly understand what you must be feeling. Empathy, not sympathy since I have never been that sick. I know things might seem bleak right now butt try to find some happiness in something so that you don't have to be so sad.You could try to express your self creatively like writing. Writing is a great way to get out emotions. Others will definitely want to know what your are feeling and it may help another person whoo reads it wh is gong through the same thing. Is there a support group that can help you?
I klnow you say you are an Athiest but I am not so I will pray for you.
Live your life to the fullest.
There's nothing i could do or say to make you feel a little bit easier.I know that there is a foundation that helps kids with cancer live out their life to the fullest.
It's called Make A Wish foundation. They helped kids live out their wildest dreams and they could help you emotionally because they know hot it must be, seeing others in you position.

Good Luck !!
First of all, cancer is NOT a death sentence.

Second of all, atheist or not, you need to find a support group for people your age honey. There are plenty of support groups that do not focus on religion or religious tidings. Get involved with something.

Third of all, if this life is the only life you have, live it as fully as absolutely possible. Enjoy everything you can, and choose to look for the positive in each and every day. Look for things you CAN enjoy right now, and make plans for things that you can enjoy with careful planning.

Don't give in, don't give up. Fight with your mind & psyche (emotions) as well as with your treatments!!

*hugs*
It is an illness that can be cured, I am sure that does not make you feel any better at the moment but feeling the way you do is not going to be very helpful to your condition. Please, even though it must be very difficult, try to be more positive in your thinking. Look upon it as a project, a problem, and you have to find the solution.Everyone feels negative when confronted with an illness, it is miserable, but doing your best to rise above those feelings is worth a try. Good Luck.
Dang Robby I know how hard this must be for you! Since i don't know the severity of the cancer i don't exactly what to say except be strong! It is still more than possible to live a very fulfilling life! My ex-girlfriends sister was diagnosed with cancer when she was 16. It was a really hard time for everyone but somehow she kept a more positive attitude then everyone around her. She was a firm believer that a positive attitude was the best thing for her and her immune system. She has been cancer free for 4 years now and has such a good look on life because she knows she's a survivor. Good luck my friend!
Hmmm, yes i sort of agree with Wyah, in that looking at this as a completely negative thing will cause you to be even more depressed..you're so very young. I'm sorry about your condition. You know, I'm not athiest and have been a believer for as long as i can remember. My father, who was a Pastor is deceased now but he once told me to explain to my friend with cancer, (and also athiest) that, with opening her heart to our Father in Heaven, how that when her time came, instead of passing away...she can just go to sleep.."He" (the Son of our Father) was a man aquainted with grief, knows what you are going thru..will be there for you, just like He is even at this very moment...even tho you say you dont believe. He loves you just that much. He would so love to have you seek Him. Why not give"The Word" a chance, it has many comforts and answers for you in your situation. I challenge you to read, and see for yourself! May you find Peace..
