My 35 year old niece judy has a form of scizoprhenia and latlely------?
Question:
Answers:
I've had schizophrenia for several years now. It sounds like Judy needs more medication or a change in medication. I take Abilify and my symptoms are under control completely. There is no cure and each individual is different. Without the right meds, yes, it can definitely get worse. But I am living proof that a person can live a normal life thanks to modern medicine. Maybe Judy should be in the hospital until she gets stable. I suggest having a family discussion as to what to do about her actions and stop her from disrupting your lives. Good Luck!
Yes if it's untreated they do have medication for this type of thing! Good luck try to be patient with Judy for she have an illness!
Judy needs some limits. Whether or not she is mentally ill, it is not helping her or the rest of the family to enable her intrusive behavior.
Let her know she can call but only once a week, and during your waking hours. You can't set limits for the rest of the family, but you can keep her from disrupting your life.
She needs help, but may not be willing to recognize it; and may not seek it.
If she rants and screams, tell her politely that you are going to hang up. And stick to your limits, do not answer her calls, and you may need to put her on a call rejection list and call her from time to time.
Hope this helps,
Karen

There is no cure for schizophrenia, however, there are medications that work very well. It is often difficult to get patients to take their meds though.
Your neice (without meds) lacks control of many of her annoying actions, because, as she is schiz., she goes into states of psychosis...she is not in touch with reality.
She needs to see a doctor and a therapist.
Many schizs. are told about their odd and annoying behaviors when they are in a clearer mental state and are filled with fear, embarrassment, anger, confusion, and this can often lead to deep depressions and potentially suicidal thoughts or actions.
She truley needs professional help.
I am sorry you have to put up with this behavior. People can be given meds to control scizoprhenia. They work quite well unless the person taking them decides not to.
SHE NEEDS MEDICATION & THERAPY. IT CAN BE MANAGED NOT CURED. AS FOR THE PHONE CALLS, BLOCK THEM.
