My Sleep Schedule is always off, why is that?

Question:
I always like to work all night, then sleep in the morning. Recently, I have acquired the habit of sleeping around 5am, then waking around 11am. Although I am told that this kind of schedule is unhealthy, I find it better than the regular schedule people keep because I love to work and study at night.
Is this kind of sleep schedule a sign of sleep disorder?

Answers:
Nope, its what i do too. except i get more sleep than you... lol

3am to 12 pm.

honestly its for the quiet and lack of distractions...

I think also long as you feel rested you should be fine.
I'm doing the samething, its quiet at night and i can really focus. but yea, i think its bad and you're not getting enough sleep. 5-11 its only around 6. I always fall asleep in class = ( hahaha. but i don't think it a disorder. Try to get ur sleep back on track. don't take naps in the afternoon and sleep early at night and try to get back to sleep normally.
I wouldn't say it's a sleep disorder, but it is unhealthy. Your body needs at least 8 and a half to 9 hours of sleep a night to process everything from the day and reenergize for the next day. You have gotten your body used to the schedule you're on now. Once you fix your schedule your body should become accustomed to its new sleeping times. If you have trouble after that, you may need to see some sort of specialist, but I doubt that will be necessary.
NO It is a sign that you are doing whatever you want to though
You are fine i have been doing the same thing for many years. The biggest problem that you will probably run in to is the fact that "normal" people can handle our type of schedule.

It's quite common, especially among young adults. Pretty much everyone in college has the same schedule, including myself.

I do have to admit that it is unhealthy. It certainly doesn't feel good when I wake up at 2 PM and feel like I've missed out on the day. I should go to sleep now, actually.

I do it for the same reason. It is more peaceful at night and there are less distractions. How can I bring myself to work when the Sun is out? Well, after recently learning a lot about Yoga and discipline, I've decided that I have to change. Wake up when the Sun rises, and go to sleep not long after it sets. That's the only way to keep your mind clear and lucid.

Also, it may be the perfect schedule for you, but you'll have to change it eventually. When you have a husband, and then have kids, you're going to have to adapt a normal schedule, so it's better to perfect that schedule sooner than later.
