What are some things you need to know before trying shrooms?
Question:
Answers:
I will ask my friend that's in lock down on a psychiatric ward for the rest of his life from taking them, so you still going to help him try then and the guilt if something goes wrong ? be safe don't do them at all.
My friend used shrooms and picked them himself. I don't think I'd take such a strong hallucinate drug -- especially since it comes directly from cow pastures and cow dung (that's where he used to get his..how gross!)!
they alter the chemicals in your brain . changing your perception of reality.
and perception is personal truth . meaning that once under the influence of the active chemical . you truly belive that what you see hear and belive are absolute reality in the moment . so if your buddy thinks that they can fly you may not be able to stop them .
every time you take a drug you take a risk .
this alters your reality . think about it before you risk something you might not be able to change .
I had BC shrooms once. Excellent. No hangover. Naturally organic. May feel a bit sick but it passes. Drink lots of beer.
You should be familiar with the effects, preferably from a friend who's done it before (and doesn't tend to make stuff up), or online from a good source like the ones I listed below.
Start at a low dose. For psilocybe cubensis mushrooms (that's what most street mushrooms are), I would start at 2 - 2.5 grams. Some people are much more sensitive to psilocybin (the active ingredient) than others are, so it's better to start low.
Keep your set (your mental setting), and setting (the setting you're tripping in) supportive and comfortable. This will help deture bad trips.
You shouldn't take shrooms (or any pschedelic, including marijuana) if your family has a history of mental disorders (bipolar, schizophrenia, whatnot) as it can cause them to surface. It's generally accepted that if a trip brings it out, it would have happened anyway... But why speed up the process if you don't have to?
Don't expect to do anything for at least 8 hours, obviously. Usually you can function a few hours before this, but it's best to set aside more time if you can. 12 hours is a good amount of time to set aside for shrooms.
I like to keep risperidone (an anti-psychotic drug, and 5-HT2a antagonist. 1 milligram of this stuff will stop a shroom, or LSD trip dead in its tracks, within 20 minutes youll be sober. It's wonderful stuff if things start getting out of hand. Hard to get thing, it's controlled.
Mushrooms have changed my life for the better, but if you use them improperly it can be nothing but bad for you (mentally). It can be a very profound spiritual (not always religious though) awakening..
Be careful, and have fun.
p.s. Also, Most mushrooms are grown in a very sterile environment inside some guys basement :-P. It HAS to be sterile, because otherwise contaminants will overtake the mushrooms (I know. I've grown them before).
Your friend probably won't think he can fly, I've never seen anything like that happen. A trip sitter is a good idea though... Especially the first few times. The sitter should be SOBER.
One more little hint for ya. Go outside! Every leaf, stick, rock and plant will have something amazingly beautiful to show you... There's no better way to connect with nature than a mushroom trip, in my opinion. It is truely beautiful..beyond description.
Actually, shrooms are very mild as compared to LSD. When I was younger and crazy, it was my drug of choice.
Here are a few tips:
Just be relaxed ~ if you feel stressed out, it will ruin your trip
Surround yourself with friends that you trust
Be in a comfortable place where you feel safe
Watch something like Wizard of Oz ~ the poppy scene and colors are SPECTACULAR
Have food ready ~ We always ate donuts
Just be relaxed and it will be nice.
