these are the 3 skills the taught us in grad school that are the most important for any theraputic relationship and I have found all three very necessary and benefical in working with clients and their families
degree in mental health and social work at least NVQ 1,2,3,4.
Patience, understanding, empathy, being able to listen and totally dedicated! You need to be trustworthy, have a kind nature and have good communication skills so as they feel comfortable in your presence and feel that they can talk to you and that you will not judge them!
u need sociology ofocurse and psychology maybe and counselling skills maybe. its hard wrk, its draining but if u have it in u, then go for it,very satisfying tho.
The most important thing is to have a good insight into the main
mental illnesses.
Well it helps if you like children, don't want to nuke every major British city, aren't intensely prejudiced, and don't celebrate terrorism! lol
