Go to a site that has a good online ADD/ADHD test. It will give you a good idea if you have adult ADD. Attention Deficit Disorder. I finally got diagnosed and take strattera for it and what a difference! Try the test on www.amenclinic.com
Obviously, if you don't like something, it's going to be a lot harder to concentrate. But try this - say to yourself, "I'm going to read x amount of pages, and then take a little break." It doesn't have to be long either, maybe even 10 minutes. Chances are you'll keep on reading and not even bother looking at the clock cuz it gets annoying to keep looking away from the book.

And this is gonna sound weird, but for some reason I've found that listening to classical music helps me focus, especially if I have to study for a test. Anyway, I hope that helps some!
Well it's very possable that you have A.D.D. which is attention deafasit dissorder, it's hard to pay attention to many things including people. My Dad has this disorder and you seem to have the same symptoms as him.
