Since i stopped taking Zoloft I'm feeling weird and paranoid. when will i start to feel normal again?

Question:
I was taking zoloft for a stressful time in my life. All at once i lost three important people in my life and suffered a nervous breakdown. so i ended up in a dark part of my life, feeling suicidal, paranoid anxious. doctors put me on paxil, and than zoloft. it was a long 7 years before i decieded i needed a break. From all the pill taking. has anyone gone through this?? and how are they now without medication. It's been three weeks for me, med free.. all i want to be is happy and healthy... any idea's? how long till you know if you did the right thing?

Noooo! You can NEVER just stop taking medecine, you need to be taken off it over a period of time! Please consult your doctor! I did that once and almost commited suicide. You really need to call your doctor!
Many people can't do without this medication, it's very possible that you shod go back on them.
I am on Paxil for the last 10 years for exactly the same reason as you, and I feel happy and no reason to quit.
Maybe, you still need the Zoloft but, a lesser dose. Did you let your Doc know that you were stopping the Zoloft "cold turkey"? It is best to slowly decrease the medication instead of stopping it all at once. Frequently, what can happen, is that any feelings that were " kept in check" by the Zoloft, are now hitting you "hard". There is no shame in having to take medications such as Zoloft. Thank goodness such medications are available during our times of " crisis". Happiness is a state of mind. What are things that make you feel good about yourself?? There must be something that you enjoy ?? Learn to take care of yourself and know what is important to you. Most of us are from dysfunctional families and you can't control other people and their actions. Get out and enjoy the outdoors, get fresh air, and take care of yourself. I hope that this helps and Good Luck.
I take 200 mg of Zoloft for moderate depression for about 2 years now.
I stopped taking my meds for about 2 weeks, then I started having emotional breakdowns 1-2 times a day.
I went back on the Zoloft, and now I'm dealing with things better...breakdown-free for 2 weeks and counting.
Ask your doctor, but I think maybe you could wait one more week, then if you aren't any better, slowly go back on the Zoloft, starting at small doses for 2-3 week increments.
Hope this helps.
Did you go cold turkey? And did you seek your doctors advice? A person usually has to cut down on these drugs gradually so you won't have adverse affects. You need to talk with your doctor to find out why you are having these symptoms. If your Dr. thinks that you still need these, don't feel bad. You are not taking them as a recreational drug but are taking them to heal and correct a chemical imbalance.
Call your Dr. You will be happy and healthy.
hi. im sry whether or not u wean of the drugs or go cold turkey u feel messed up either way so thats for the people who are telling u u need drugs. nobody actaully needs these drugs. they are a bandaid and they only help for a small period of time. years to me is small compaired to a lifetime. the dr who put u on them in the first place is an idiot what he should of done is set u up with some good councling and ways to learn to deal with your grief instead he put u on meds to numb the pain and now your dealing with emotions u should of dealt with then. u will have withdrawal from meds whether u go cold turkey or not. these meds are the hardest to get off of. research zoloft withdrawal thats most likely what your feeling. these meds have addictive agents so when u come off them they make u feel like **** so u stay on them. its there way of making money. go to ur local health food store or find a homepathlogist doctor (not sure if spelled right) they can give u something to help ur body adjust to be med free. exercise and eat healthy and find a hobby to keep ur mind busy. sooner or later ull be your old self. no one needs these meds. dont let people tell you that. if u have a healthy mind u have a healthy body and life. be positive and know these are most likely withdrawals.
GO BACK ON IT.
