Is "paranoid" the same as "insecure"?

Question:
I think im paranoid, but im told im just insecure.

Answers:
Insecure means fearful or doubting or not self-confident.

Paranoid means a distrust of others and a constant suspicion that people around you have sinister motives. People with this disorder tend to have excessive trust in their own knowledge and abilities and usually avoid close relationships with others. They search for hidden meanings in everything and read hostile intentions into the actions of others. They are quick to challenge the loyalties of friends and loved ones and often appear cold and distant to others. They usually shift blame to others and tend to carry long grudges

As you can see, these two conditions are not the same.
no they are both very different.
No. Paranoia is a feeling of being scrutinised when you are not. It is associated to panic.

Being insecure is a psychological state of not trusting the world around you.
not really, insecurity can cause a form of paranoia, insecure means you have doubts about yourself and paranoid means you always think the worst of a situation
dunno
Paranoid is a word that is vastly over-used, to the extent that most people have no idea what it means. Genuine paranoia is terrifying.
Most people have some sort of insecurity about something. Many people you meet on a daily basis are terribly insecure. Insecurity can cause all kinds of other issues, like the arrogant person you meet, is probably insecure and needs to prove otherwise, the emotional wreck wears their insecurity on their sleeve. Paranoia, or being paranoid is the feeling that everything always goes wrong for you, that if something bad is going to happen, it will happen to you, that people do not like you, even if they do not have reason to dislike you, that they are talking about you, that you are being watched or followed, that your friends and family are really ridiculing you behind your back or only pretending to be nice to you when really they are either plotting against you, or just laughing at you. Insecurity, whether mild or extreme, and paranoia, whether mild or extreme, are both worth seeking therapy for. Low self esteem is something that can be changed, sometimes the journey is easy, sometimes harder and more painful, but the outcome the other side, emerging as a more confident, secure and happy person who is able to trust not only others but their feelings and attitudes towards others makes the journey well worth while. Good luck, and God bless.

Great question. This is my personal opinion, but they are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Paranoia does involve insecurity, but insecurity does not necessarily indicate paranoia. Paranoid people are always suspicious and believe others are scrutinizing JUST them. Maybe they feel people are plotting something against them personally, and develop obsessive-compulsive habits which can be destructive.

Not everyone develops paranoia, but everyone probably feels insecure at one time or another.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but I know I do too sometimes. If need be, go talk to your physician.
Feeling Insecure > IT might happen
Feeling Paranoid > IT WILL
Insecurity has been a part of everyone as long as we have been around. Wars plagues famine and natural disasters are a part of our lives so insecurity affects everybody, but we go along with our daily lives and carry on. Paranoia is characterized by suspicious feelings towards other persons or groups and is usually is directed towards them by a single person who feels endangered. Insecurity involves all of us but paranoia only a few by comparison. Insecurity can cause us to form bonds with each other for mutual survival. People with paranoia because of its nature cannot act as a group and that to me makes some of them more dangerous like the infamous Josef Stalin.
A person who is "paranoid" acts in an unreasonable way.
Like...washing their hands a million times per day because they are frightened of germs.
A person who is "insecure" is basically just shy or feels that they are not as good as another person.
These people are usually very jealous and possessive too.
the best way to put it, i think, is that you can be insecure without being paranoid, but you can't be parqaniod without being insecure. so you're probably just insecure.
Insecure is like "I'm not good enough, am I?"

Paranoia is like "are they out to get me?
