Does the liberal media (doctors) throw around the term BIPOLAR DISORDER too loosely?
Question:
I saw on the news, on nancy grace CNN show.
A psychiatrist was talking about Lindsey Lohan's DUI, and she threw around the diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
I was like WTF?
It this not just like a pediatrician slapping a hyper kid with ADHD?
I have been WRONGLY diagnosed with DSM:IV bipolar disorder:mania w/ psychotic features
And this was from like a 30 minute clinical interview (assessment)?
Am I wrong or is it psychotic for medical doctors to go on a news-talk-show and use "bipolar disorder" as a "one size fits all diagnosis"
If you are in the profession (I'm matriculated...) then are you sick of doctors being unobjective?

Answers:
my daughter was diagnosed with bipolar but it was after years of seeing a doctor , i do not think this can be done in an 30 minute interview . yes i am upset that this is being a cookbook diagnosis because this is a serious disease that needs to be watched and monitored
I was wrongfully diagnosed with that, too. I know I ain't bipolar.
It is unfair for the people who are falsely diagnosed as bipolar as well as for the people who really are bipolar that these thoughtless diagnoses are given all the time.
