Why are there so many screwed-up kids?

I think it's mainly because life is getting more impersonal in the internet age, and kids are missing out on all the fun activities that they're supposed to be doing. They are all depressed and apathetic now, it's ridiculous.

My opinion is too many parents give kids what they want. The parents want to be the kids best friend instead of the 'parent'. Also, kids are loaded up with a lot of junky food - sugary stuff that makes them wired all day. If I ate junk (donuts, poptarts, candy) I would be a pain too because I would feel terrible inside.
most are just self indulgent and spoilt.and too tell the truth probably werent whacked enough when they were younger!! chances are 90% will grow out of it.you can tell between the onesthat are genuinly stuffed and the ones that will alwways be like that no matter weather they try their hardest to fix themselves:D
I would blame it on the media; celebritities and their lives. Kids get influenced and become screwed up.
Parents could be one good answer but some people (including me) go through very hard times in life. Like those children in forien countries. Also the people who have many harships in life. It all depends.

It would have to do with so many parents letting schools raise their kids for them. The lack of personal involvement in your kids' lives leads many children to grow up with little to no moral compass. They then make decisions based on what is fun at the moment and not logic or reason. The overbearing political correctness has neutered most of our kids as well. Boys can no longer be boys, because it is too violent or messy. Girls are being taught to be just like boys. There is a reason we are all different and kids get screwed up when you try to mold them to be all the same.
kids are only what their parents let them and make them to be. calling them "screwed up kids" is also giving them no space to change. how about giving them a chance to change? i think you would want it.
probably because there are so many screwed-up adults. as some historian (or tv show, i cant remember) once said, "History repeats itself."
Most of it is because they are not getting what they need from their parents. But sometimes there can be other reasons, like a chemical inballance. My parents were great, and I'm still screwed up.

i think cuz all the meds parents and doctors think kids need to be on these days. just let them be kids instead of using a controlled substance to mold them the way they like
There really aren't any more than there were before. Population has grown and we are more aware of the problems and they are often times more called to our attention. Also people don't feel so ashamed to admit they have a problem.
also a slight opinion is that parents always want to give their kids more than they had.. we'll that leads to some pretty off beat kids
i think alot of these kids are faking.they jzt wanna be these whiny emo B@#$% that mtv and media is projecting dese days.the kids who are really messed up either grow out of or be that way forever and become some sociopath.

because i know from my personal past (being 17 now) that kids experience bullying at school, verbal and emotional abuse from teachers and parents, physical abuse from parents, violence from family and tv, then pysical, verbal and emotional abuse in relationships, most teen girls either have been raped or has a friend who was raped... oh and i they drink cuz their parents do...
i've been verbally abused at home my entire life, emotionally abused my entire childhood, at school i was bullied and verbally and emotionally abused by teachers, i was extremely violent from a very young age probably from seeing violence at home, called fat by my mom until i became anorexic, i was severely beaten for months by my exboyfriend, and then to top it all off i was sexually assulted twice and raped once...
so as a result, i'm a screwed-up teen... who is currently stoned and 18 days clean of cocaine!
