I hate my job and i don't know what to do?

Question:
i graduated college with a business finance degree. im working with investments now. i hate the work. i don't like the whole financial / stock market / sub-prime mortgage mumbo jumbo. it never interested me. i just did it cuz people told me thats where the money was. i never had any interest in it whatsoever. i loathe it actually. it bores me to death. i have no interest in business at all. now what do i do? this sucks, really. im lost in the "real world". i feel like death.

Answers:
wow Brian you must love your job! Okay so stop stressing and go do something you like. Do you like kids? Go be a teacher. You already have a degree all you have to do is take a test. Just do something you like and don't listen to people!
if you can find more jod which is better at your position then quit the job. thus, anyone would be very interested in your position...
find something else that interests you. you don't have to work in business. my father in law has a degree in psychology and he doesn't use it. so there is no one out there that has to use their degree if they don't want to.
look around dont do something because some-one told you to find a job that you enjoy try different things. things that maybe you didn't think you cud do and once you've found a job u like dont settle stay there 4 a bit then move around again I'm sure it will be a great experience!
I dont know about the financial field But in general I think you should explore finding a new job you are able to do, then seek out new training or education in s'thing you might enjoy more. LLook at local college brochures. You may find something interests you that is related to finance but not exactly the field you now loathe. You haven't a lot of experience yet to know if all the fields in business are so boring. Try to tough it out for at least 6mo to a year while looking into the next job. Try not to quit until you have another job imn hand. It may be well worth it to work either part time and go back to school or to work FT at a less stressful job that would allow you to go back to school PT. Try to adjust to living well below your means so yo ucan afford school. It may pay off in the end.
Start looking for a new job.

You may need to start at the bottom of the ladder, but believe me, it is better than staying in a job that could cause you serious mental issues.

My first job was in investments as well and I hated it. There was nothing you could hammer down, nothing solid to pin your forecasts on. It was a total crap shoot.

Decide exactly what you want to do.
List all your skills and strengths.

Once you have decided to pursue a job, sell yourself on those skills and abilities.

By reading your message, I understood one key thing. You know what to do, you just don't dare do it. The answer is simple. Find something you like to do, ensure that something is available for you, then quit your hateful job and go do that thing you like to do.
life is to short to pursue unhappiness. You could still use your formal education in something that you do like. I'm not familiar with business fin. but you can make great money as a finance director at a dealership (not the small crappy ones) - they prefer your educational history. Or - maybe work for a large school district - they have to have someone to keep track of all the finances. Or - maybe just a change of scenery - would you still like your job if you lived and worked in Sweden, London or Stockholm?
Get out of that job it is bringing you down. If you have a degree then there are a lot of jobs that will take you on just because of the degree. Go for it you can do it.
I'm so sorry, you sound like my husband (who doesn't give a **** about polymer chemistry).
Just try to change it while you're young. Really.
When I watch him rattle around in his really nice house with a blackberry and 2 phones trying to make sure thing are cool at work, it makes me so sad.
I don't know how to tell you to change it, but it's important that you do. Maybe take a vacation and make a plan while you sit on the beach.
Please put your happiness above a bunch of shiny new stuff.
BTW, I hear Panama is really nice from some friends...
I wish you very good luck!
