Question:
i was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder 3 years ago. but i quit going to my shrink, and did not take any more medications. im still in this weired state, that i cant really explain. at this point im feeling fine. Im 20 years old.But it seems like all those normal problems people have at my age i exegarate them. Its simply cuz i dont know any different. My selfesteem is enormously low, i grew up in a messed up family( little contact with dad, mom had selfesteem problmes).i have notized that im feeling a lot tired all the time. then im also experiencing concentration problems.I find it so hard to focus on anything. It seems like my head is empty. But the biggest problem is that when im finally trying to focus, to do semthing i like, or juss to enjoy, then my head is empty. thats making me depressed.Im so concerned with WORRY 24/7(seriously) that i cant even figure what i like, what i want to do etc, besides those worry thoughts. All i do is worry. i feel like an alian.

You really should see your doctor and get back on some type of medication. There is no shame in doing that. I, myself, take an antidepressant daily. If you're worried about what others may think...don't tell anyone! It's not like you're wearing a badge letting everyone know you have problems. Not taking your medication, on the other hand, will be a flashing sign to everyone as your symptoms become less manageable.
I suspect your difficulty in concentrating is due to lack of sleep or lack of RESTFULL sleep. You need to seek help before your problems worsen...worrying so much will give you ulcers and will definately age you pre-maturely. There's nothing wrong with asking for help...more people should!
Don't know what it is but you are in my prayers.
It is anxiety disorder, just like the doc said! Take your pills and you wil be fine!
I agree, you should go back to the doctor. I have friends who have been through this, and believe me, it can help. Don't give up
What about considering taking anti-despressants? They definately help and will definately relax you. If you dont want to go to a shrink, what about a life coach they look forward rather than back and be very motivating. Also exercise is good and try and focus less on yourself but more on other people who are less fortunate than yourself.
Hope this helps abit!
Anxiety is a problem and yes if the doctor told you to take pills I would take them. Do some soul searching, god can do miracles, I will put you in my prayers. you have to ask him for the answers. rely on him . give your problems to him and things get easier. Honestly and truley rely on him.
Have you tried meditating to try and calm your brain down a bit? Just sit quietly for 20 minutes repeating a mantra such as "peace" "love", something positive.

I had GAD too at one time. Just took living a bit to get over it. Good luck!
since you didnt deal with this problem completely, you may be experiencing depression as well. Your feelings of helplessnessand being tired all the time could be because you are body is becoming numb due to the length of time you have been put though all of this. It happened to me. I actually started to self medicate. I started to steal medications and I got into alot of trouble. I was in such a state of denial that I didnt care about what I was doing to myself and others. I was completely numb, and living in the 3rd person. I felt like a Robot who had been put on auto pilot. Take care of this soon please. DOnt let it get out of hand the way that I did. I never believed that something like that could have ever happened to me. My COURTORDERED therapist is still on both sides as to whether or not I had some sort of mild an prolonged psychotic episode. It is just like any other disease. If left untreated it will just get worse.
Most people with GAD also have depression. I grew up very much like you. You have to go back to your Dr. I suffered with Depression for most of my life, until I finally decided to get help. I will never again suffer with anxiety and depression. I know there are ways to overcome this without medicine, but first you have to get yourself stable, then you can find ways to cope with it without medicine. Don't waste your life being miserable. I am including a link for you. Check out this site, they have a program you can buy, but you don't have to, you can actually buy it on eBay cheaper if you chose to. The site by itself is very helpful. There is a chat room and message board where you can talk to others going through the exact things as you are. Good Luck!
You should definitely go back to the doc there are some anti-anxiety pills you can take during the day. They don't knock you out just mellow you out to avoid a full blown attack. I hope this helps.
