Marijuana addiction?

Question:
61 year old male, smokes 1 oz of pot per week or more. Locked himself in his bedroom, sits in there talking to himself. Hasn't eaten anything but Jello for 2 days. Getting more violent daily. Refuses to go to the doctor for any reason. What should I do?

Answers:
make him some brownies
just keep trying. sounds like he's having a breakdown.

sometimes all you need is love :)
good luck.
Call the police unless you want to be charged with aiding and abetting
I don't think its the pot,,, sounds like a mental issue here,,, you can call the local hospital and tell them what is going on and if they feel he is a potential candidate to harm himself or others they will hold him for I think 72 hours for observation,, it sounds like he needs help and you need to take the first step to help him even if he gets mad at you,,, good luck
Tell him you are going to the park and you wanna take him with you then take him to rehab!
Try to get his stash away from him. I'm not a doctor, but maybe he's used marijuana as a supplement to his depression. I've smoked in the past quite a bit, and I was depressed. It seemed to make it worse when I would smoke. I've gone to therapy, and it has helped a lot. He needs some help though which you're already aware of. He's got to come out to use the bathroom sometime, take it away and let him come down from his high. See if he'd go with you to a counselor or someone. Depression untreated is like a ticking time bomb! Good luck!!
If he really is getting more violent daily it sounds like you have a bigger problem on your hands than just an old pot head. You are probably going to have to intervene with either legal or medical help. This behavior is NOT normal. You need to get help... from somewhere. If he is getting more violent, that means that you could be in danger, and that is not good, so its time to act, no matter what. Most marijuana smokers are not violent at all - there's something else going on.
He may be getting some sort of disease (Alzheimers, Parkinson's) but it is defintely not the weed. I am no medical professional, but I am a smoker from way back and weed doesn't do that!
If you can't reason with him, have the local police do a welfare check. If they see an elderly man who looks unhealthy, they will call for an ambulance to see if your friend is in need of medical treatment. I cannot see someone starving when they have THC in them. As a taxpayer, I would see cops checking the welfare of your friend as my money being put to good use. Now if he is a serious threat to you or himself call 911 immediately. Do not delay. He can be assessed and treated at the nearest ER. Do it for you and your friend.
Marijuana is not the cause of his problem.
But there is a small hole in the middle of the doorknob. if you put a piece of strong wire in this hole and push the button inside, it will unlock the door.
I suggest you have help standing buy.
well the effects of marijuana use has shown studdies that men in your age group are very likely to develop DID, but it sounds like your experiencing symptoms of depression and/or bipolar disorder.
He may be suicidal! He needs immediate intervention!
he is over doseing on the ganja, no kidding it is possible. when u overdose on ganja the effects are the total oppisite. You lose ur appitie you become anxious and irriatable and also have insomnia. My husband went threw a similar situation before he got help. the best thing to do is get him into rehad asap.
