Wellbutrin and side effects?
Question:
Answers:
You don't start losing weight until a month or two on the meds.
Yes, vertigo and dry mouth are the typical side effects. Caffeine is a good psycho-stimulant and enhances it effectiveness.
I'm right there with you honey, I have been taking the generic welbutrin for a few years. I constantly feel dizzy. I haven't lost a whole lot of weight but I have maintained the same weight for almost 1 year now. Needless to say it needs to be a lot less but try taking vitamins like b6, e, or even bee pollen is supposed to help with the energy. I have been walking some to try and boost the energy and it helps some but not as much as the vitamins and walking combined. If you ever need a sounding board I'm here for you. Have a great day!
While I can't speak to the Vertigo, I would like to warn you about alcohol in conjunction with Wellbutrin. Mixing the two can cause seziures. I also noticed that in the (brief) time I was taking it--that is, until I found out about the no-no w/ drinking--that even having just one drink would lead me to be incredibly ill the next morning. It was if I had binged all night! Please be careful.
my brother took it to stop smoking and it gave him insane night terrors, he is 6ft5in 240lbs 27yrs old and would be screaming and crying in the night like a child. it was crazy. needless to say he had to stop taking it
Wellbutrin is often prescribed when an individual experiences too many side effects from other antidepressants. Wellbutrin inhibits the reuptake (the brain's getting rid of) norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. Dopamine is also known as "the pleasure neurotransmitter" and "the addict's neurotransmitter".
In one study on Wellbutrin, only about 30% of patients reported weight gain/loss while taking Wellbutrin.
Vertigo is one of the less-common adverse effects of Wellbutrin.
You should never attempt to "enhance" the effects of an antidepressant unless it is via healthy lifestyle changes such as improved diet and exercise. Weight loss should be gradual (i.e., no more than 5 pounds per month), not dramatic, if you want the weight to stay gone. If you feel like your antidepressant is not working, discuss the dosage with your physician.
