talk to a friend. Seek professional help. Get out of the house. Go for a walk.

get professional help see a psychiatrist and ask them to refer you to a psychologist who can give you therapy. Get on some medication zoloft works really good. And keep active also do some exercise or something.

i suffer from depression and understand its crippling hold.
it is finding the motivation that seems to be the issue .
when you are stuck in the dark it always seems like the end of everything and whatever you think about turns into a negative .
the key i belive is to force yourself into doing something that is physicaly active . an activity that doesnt require super thought but keeps the brain mulling in the task .
by actualy physicaly doing something your body pumps blood around quicker and you are forced to think about other things away from the feelings of hell.
the activity can be absolutley anything and its worth trying many different things as well as its different for everybody and you have to try try and try again but results are possible through this . this is not a longterm answer of course but may lead you to be able to see just over the top of the darkened valley that is depression . when you can see a little light the motivation is there to work towards .

Not to be alone..
Take some interesting topic and read about it or Read Novels. Play some games.
Try doing activities, which you thought of doing earlier and didn't. Start those activities now.

*First of all, be sure that it is YOU who controls the depression and not other way around.
*Then, get active. Call your best friend, go out for a cup of coffee and talk to her. Talk about how you feel and what's going on in your head.
*Get busy. Clean and / or rearrange your apartment, go shopping, start painting, cross-stitching--whatever.
*Release endorphins, fall in love with sports and reach the runner's high
*And YES, it is ok to get your favorite chocolate and indulge in it! (as long as it's not a kilo a day, of course ;-)
Become more active. Depression may be also due to certain chemical imbalances or lack of certain secretions in the brain. So if it is really bad, then consult a doctor. If it is due to huge and unrealistic expectations, grow up!
