Answers:
I can only guess that it is a form of mental retardation due to her brain having been "cooked" by the fever (meningitis or encephalitis?). She needs remedial treatment: contact the appropriate state & national agencies: become a "self made expert" on the subject, using the Webferret search engine, Wikipedia & Google websites, Amazon.com & your local doctor, library, & the books those associations recommend. The groups at Myspace, Google, and Yahoo, for families of similar people, can often help. Become her therapist and mentor, as well as sister, and friend. Get a card with her name printed in block letters, laminate, and give to her. Teach her to copy it. Do a signature of her name; ask her to copy it; tell her that it is her signature now, to use anytime she has to. Keep both cards together (and duplicates) in the laminate, both facing outwards. Others have to put their names, addresses, and phone no.s on of responsible parties on similar cards, and wear around their neck. I think she could improve considerably, with the right treatment, but will probably never be 100%. I could suggest some supplements and herbal products to try, and websites, but I strongly suggest that you contact those with some knowledge and expertise first, since I'd just be guessing, but if you fail elsewhere, email me through my profile, for a shot in the dark.
whats a fiver???
Sorry Angel, I have no idea. It's a question for a doctor.
I don't know the illness that caused her to suffer so, I do recognise that she has a loving sister who by her love adds a quality to her life that we, fit and able people cannot hope to attain.
Please do one thing, and that is to enjoy your life to the full. I realise your sister's illness causes you great anguish but you have a life to live too, so take some pleasure from life and please do so at every opportunity.
i dont think there is a cure for her illness cuz the mental cells n the humen brain can't be replaced and its so good that she have someone who care and love her just dont ever leave her alone and about those asses who make jokes about her try to speak to them and ask them to understand what she have i think they will stop cuz we r all humens
take care and good luck to u and ur sis
You mean fever? Could it be menighitis?
I don't know if there is a name for her condition, other than brain damage caused by a fever. This is a very rare condition, so I am curious to know if it was in conjunction with anything else (but I am also not a doctor).

There is a doctor who has done lots of work with brain function restoration in patients that have had strokes. I recommend calling his office; they most likely cannot give you a diagnosis on the phone for obvious reasons, but perhaps you can fly out to have an appointment with him.

He is a great guy, I know him personally and he treated my wife when she had a very challenging condition. The problem is that he is so well acclaimed that it takes a very long time to get in to see him, but people do come form all over to see him.

Here is the info on his brain therapies:

My best to you and bless you for being a compassionate sister to her. Even if she can't communicate, I know it does wonders for her spirit. Also, keep stimulating her by speaking to her and also touching her (like back rubs, and rubbing her arm when you speak to her). I was at a conference once where this was mentioned and research has shown that this does aid in recovery.
