I have bipolar disorder, depression & generalised anxiety disorder.?
Question:
Is there anyone else who has the same problem?
Answers:
Hi there, sure have a mixed lot of responses haven't you! Firstly- DO NOT take the negative comments personal, OK?
Good!
Now that is out of the way, here's my opinion!
All medications have side effects, you did not mention what your Doc has prescribed, ~maybe have a look online for more info on that particuplar drug. You could actually discover that those meds do have a weight gain risk.
But besides that, are you eating well?
Do you exercise? I am not talking Gyms and sports etc. Just that short stroll to the shops or around the block daily is enough to get your weight at a healthy range.
And it is GREAT for your minds wellbeing too!
All the best to you
:-)
If your appetite is increased, why eat more? Get yourself back to eating proper portions and join a gym. Yes, lots of people have this problem and most of them don't just sit around on their lazy butts blaming the meds.
well is this medicine called prednizone if so i hated that stuff to it made me so uncomfortbale bout my self sumetimes but the easyest way i found to shake the appitite is that eat stuff with less sodium.cuz thats what makes your wight go up when your on predzone...idk if this helps
i got diagnosed with mood disorder and borderline. you know what helped me? and i DONT take medicines! i REFUSED to believe i was gonna have to be on medicine the rest of my life, i had trust in God that he would HEAL me. and he did. you have to have faith and to refuse to accept those disorders. i got baker act, i was self injurious, very depressed, straight out CRAZY, didnt fear anyone! i gave my life to God Feb. 2007. it was last yr and up till beginning of Feb. i went through all that. i am a happy, peacefull person now. but it was my FAITH in God and my refusal of accepting anything negative. i truly believe this. there is nothing else it could of been. the medicine didnt help when i was taking it, baker act made me worse.
I can empathize with your situation, although my problem has been quite the reverse.
I too suffer from Depression, PTSD, and Generalized anxiey disorder. But after a bout with chemotherapy, it sucked everything out of me. So now, it seems as though I have gone through a series of meds. One in particular, Prozac, which I later found out was used to treat Bulimia, made me lose over 10 lbs in one week.I woke up one day looking like a human skeleton!
Maybe that med would coincide with the ones you are already on and help you?
Hell, I dont know, but i guess its worth a try. Everyone I come into contact with seems to think that being a 41yr old size1 is ok.I would be happy just to be able to get back to a 5 or 7. My ideal size is an 11.but i guess one persons perspective is different from eeveryone elses.
Good Luck to you...and ask your dr. for some advice.
Blessings

You can't have bipolar disorder (1 or 2) and have depression also. One or the other. Not both. Your doctor is either a quack or you are a liar, missy.

Good morning A.L. I just got up and just got your question. I hope you don't think I'm BSing you, but I have had these problems for a few years. I use Zoloft (generic is called Sertraline), Lexapro and Trazadone. The meds do seem to help, but, yes, there can definitely be weight issues and a number of other side effects.
But I have also found other ways to get beyond the problems and get back to a reasonably normal life.
Here is not the place to get into personal issues however. Send me an e-mail if you'd like and I'll explain.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, trust me.
