It will take a few day's to get in your system you may not feel any side effect's they are a fairly new Anti Depressant which aren't supposed to have many side effects, I for one dont feel many !! but it's really down to the individual, we all react differently to medication !! :)
My doctor told me to take it before bed, and I felt the effects as soon as the next morning. It's a great drug.
2 weeks, for full effects to happen
It made me want to sleep all day so i quit taking it.
been taking it for 4 months now it kicked in about 3 weeks after I started taking them but I still have off days, It does'nt help if you drink on them though as I found out, it says to avoid alcohol but I still have a couple when I want!
this med is an anti depressant.i felt it almost within the 3 hour it made me focused a bit more aware than usual not hungry and even a bit speeding.after a few more tries i started talking more freely...flirting giving compliments and feeling overall happier within 4 months i found it very hard getting an erection and found myself with an overall weight gain..within 1 month of stopping the drug my erections returned but so did the happy feeling..i lost a little more weight but i found focusing harder to get a job done...i started using ritalin for the focus and speed and a clonex, halcion or xanax to get my mood lifted i learnt to alternate my meds for optimum effects
headaches are the ONLY side-effects I've had on Citalopram. I noticed them straight away, every day for the first week or two.

Been on Citalopram 2 years, and they helped me a lot.I'll be getting off them soon
felt the side effects about an hour after taking the first tablet. The side effects continued the whole time I was on the medication and only stopped when i stopped taking it.
The side effects always kick in quicker than the beneficial effects. Hang on in there.
About 3 wks 4 me, still have bad days, but in general no side effects.
I must be the only person here that didn't experience any side-effects from citralopram. Not even one.
The only thing I did wrong was stop them cold turkey and I had a headache for a few days. I went against the doc's advice to wean off them slowly though.
Took a good 2 or 3 weeks before I noticed anything but once it kicked in, it worked like a dream.
when i first started in it it took about 2 weeks to kick in a bit, and begin to help. usu, as the side effects wear off it begins to work.
I take it you mean beneficial effects - not negative side-effects. Like any anti-depressants, it takes a while to get into your system. Once it does get going though, it is really effective. To prove it, I'm here! Slashed wrists, overdoses, the lot! Now I take citalopram.
