Lexapro question, Please?
Question:
Howcome I hear people saying they are 'high' on prozac or Lexapro, or other depression meds? Do you get a 'high' or are you really supposed to get in a 'nothing bothers me' state? Whats your experience or opinion about it. Could my dose be low? 10 mg I think... I forget to take it maybe 1-2 a week, should that make a big impact?
However, most the time I dont feel down, is because something good literaly happened(saw sum1 I like, stuff like that), I dont just feel happy for the 'fun' of it. I dont get really down either, its weird. Thats why I wanna know your input!
Thank you

I am on Lexapro. I still can get very sad though. but it does help me most of the time. I started out on 10 mg, and now take 20mg. I look at it as and aide to help stabilize my depression, yet not a cure. The depression I have is very severe. It is different for everybody though. For the most part it has benefited me.
Lexapro did absolutely nothing for me. It was as if I had been taking a sugar pill. Everyone experiences depression differently, and while one person may have done absloutely wonderful on lexapro or any other drug, another person may not. It also depends on how long you have been on it for. It generally takes 4 to 8 weeks for the med to fully get into your system and start doing what it is supposed to be doing. If you arent getting any help from it, then go back to your doc and ask to try something different. SSRI's did not work well for me. I ad no relief until I went on Wellbutrin which is a SNDI. It works on dopamine as opposed to seratonin. I had tried 3 other types before I found on that really helped me!
If you've been on it for a while, like 3 or more months, it shouldn't matter that you miss the pill once in a while.
I'm on Lexapro too actually but not long enough for the affects to take place. I'm waiting patiently!
I've taken Lexipro and I didn't feel "high". (I wish!) It's suppose to make you feel normal, not amped up. And you should try and never miss a dose. It will affect you like any other sort of med. I take Paxil, which works a tad bit better for me, but I'm a naturally high strung person. I'd need an elephant sedative to chill my butt completely. Your'e probably that way too, right? Your suppose to feel good when something good happens, not giddy all the time. It would be nice, but that would mean your over medicated. Doesn't sound awful tho, does it?????
