First, congratulations on your recent achievement.
Ironically, attaining a goal can sometimes be a real let down, can't it?
The key is to always have ANOTHER goal (or better: goalS) for which you are also striving.
Maybe because you dont deserve it?
i think its more anti climax you felt more then depression, when you get something you always wanted it can feel like" this is it?!"
has you built it up to be SO hard and wanted it for SO long ,it can take a while for the "euphoria" to set in .
It might be disappointment with what you won, or it might be guilt that you took the prize everyone else was working so hard for.
i wouldn't say you were depressed i would say you were sharing the misery of your opponent for a week. plus maybe it wasn't your thing you might actually feel better after winning an academy award. goodluck.
Is it maybe an anti-climax? getting to the top and realising there's nowhere to go but back down? Maybe you've put a stop to your goals, you've achieved something great but now you don't feel that you have anything more to achieve and are thus feeling bad about it? Maybe you want more and more from life, and you want recognition and praise... maybe you should push yourself to achieve more and more, but then would that make you even MORE depressed the higher you go? Well it's tricky, I'm not an achiever as such I wouldn't say, I don't tend to compete much (only when it involves drinking people under the table!) but I should think you need to reward yourself for what you've done, and maybe have a celebration with friends and get completely tanked up and stoned etc etc. Yehhhhh... that's it, yehhhhhh!
I get the same exact way.
Sometimes, it is just that you are so happy, and when you win you feel like there should be more.
And whne that is all it is, it makes you upset.
Also, you might have a more severe condition. You could be manic, clinical, bi-polar.
Depression is a very serious thing, you should talk to someone about it.
Hmm, did you cheat? Maybe you're feeling guilty.
i think it's the aftereffects of a big build up and a high. Once all the excitment is over and you've gone as high as you can go in something there is always a period of coming down to reality.
