Can you die from obsessive compulsive disorder?

Question:

Answers:
You'd probably never die as a direct result of obsessive compulsive disorder.unless your obsession was something particularly destructive to your physical well being.

To be a happier person, however, requires that you learn to control it, instead of it controlling you.

For example, when I was a teen I counted my steps going to and from school. I counted windows, I counted cars, I counted and I counted. Plus, I also had other things that I just had to do, like not stepping on sidewalk cracks, and touching doorways in certain places as I went through them, and other things as well, and I knew I had to do it all OR ELSE something bad would happen (is what I thought). It controlled me pretty good for several years.

Then I got fed up with it. It was making me miserable because I knew better, that the world wouldn't go awry if I failed to touch the door in a certain spot. So I began to conciously talk myself out of some of the compulsive behavior, one incident at a time. I now control it (for the most part).I still have to dot my i's in just the right place and write the number zero just so! LOL!...but I can live with that :o)
No, unless it takes over your life and you commit suicide. Don't worry I've had it for over 10 years and i'm still ballin on this earth lol.
No, unless u kill yourself, but I know u wont lol
Not unless the obsession leads to unhealthy behavior. Or if you go "Monk" on somebody with a gun and a short fuse.
It matters what it makes you do. If you touch the wall three times when you enter a room you won't die from it. If it makes you starve yourself and vomit every time you eat, it will. Best luck.
Well it really is based on what you mean, OCD is an anxiety disorder. recent studies have been carried out and reachers have found out that the brain chemistry in OCD suffers, differ slightly. This Disorder can be treated affectively with Anti-Depressants, So if you or any one you know is a suffer go to the Doc.
That means you shall explode from schizophrenia
Indirectly, yes. The problem isn't usually so much the OCD itself, which is usually harmless. Rather, it could be enough of a distraction that it prevents getting adequate amounts of basic needs. For example, an OCD might keep you from getting enough sleep at night, which impairs your judgement while on the motorway. Another example might be where it prevents getting proper nutrition in one way or another.

Keep in mind that OCD isn't what you do, but why you do it. Whether it be someone that obsesses about cleanliness or counting stairs or the like, the root is the same. If an OCD involves risk-taking behaviour, it's not so much the OCD itself but another dynamic at work. The OCD simply magnifies it.
no. but ppl cann get really sick with it!
