I am depressed and it's an official dx and I'm bipolar 2 will I ever feel better? I'm in such a dark place.

Question:
I've been suicidal and think if it often but can't since I have a child to raise. I feel like another person and want the old me, the happy me back. I'm tired of the yrs of med changes. Positive attitude I've tried and tire of faking it you know? What do you think YouQA.com community?

Two words: HANG ON!
I have been there and you WILL pull through,
Take each day, or even hour at a time. Your child needs you.
Take CAre ♥

CAT! Not all people with Bi Polar Talk themselves into it!
and you're a therapist!!
It's a bit<ch trying to find the right combo of meds and the right consuler to talk too. Hang in there.
sorry for where you are i have been there and is no fun, but hang in there if you are not 100% happy with your counselor change i can not even count how many i have been thru but i now have a counselor that i can tell and every intamate dumb crazy stuipd idea i have and he does not judge me, only helps me to understand that if i do something what might happen.

as far as changing meds around it has taken me 20 years to find the right combination of drugs and dosages to use. i feel like a brand new person one who i like and i think other people like and like to be around.

my prayers are with you. good luck
first of all, try to change your thinking about yourself -- YOU are NOT bipolar 2, you are a person most importantly. some people unintentionally start to LIVE their diagnosis & actually become it... a self-fulfilling prophecy. find a GOOD therapist in your area, as your doctor to help you look. my personaly theoretical orientation (approach to therapy) is cognitive therapy, or CHOICE theory. if you arent interested in therapy, or even if you are, look up choice theory online for information. the most well-known name in this field is "Glasser," he's good. i find it an empowering theory of the mind & the way we work as human beings... gives US the control back to determine how we feel & how to do it.

relying on meds sucks. i can relate, i have been diagnosed with depression as well & currently take lexapro to help w/ symptoms. in addition, i'm a therapist... sometimes medications dont work well for everyone. something i've seen though, is that there may not be any "right" medication combo for you. as you grow & your needs change, you meds will need to also.

dont give up. i've have seen people improve first-hand. but i really believe the first step is finding it inside yourself to BELIEVE, really believe, that it can work, it can get better. go ahead & believe it, bc it's true. you will never get the "old you" back, it's not possible. it isnt for any of us! who knows, i'll bet the "new you" will be even better & stronger for having made it through this storm.

good luck.

You are right, that your child needs you. No one can ever replace you in your child's heart, okay?

Are you getting therapy? Are you in a support group? Do you belong to an online support group? Have you contacted NAMI in your area?

If you can find other adult sufferers in your area, you might be able to find another doc to help with your meds. And you'd have more support.

I know it's frustrating with the meds. But that is an important part of feeling well...finding the right meds and taking them ALL the time as prescribed.

Do you do lifestyle modifications? Eat right? Exercise? Journal? Shower and get out of the house every day?

Keep trying! Don't give up! Your child needs you. :)
We all want life to exactly our way, but it never works out perfectly. We want something but don't get it and it feels as if our lives are ruined. We want people to love us exactly the way we want them too love us, but it hardly ever works out that way. We want perfect peace and joy, but someone is always oppressing us or insulting us or doing so to our friends. We want freedom from pain and old age, but suffering and death comes. So what to do? How can we bear the sadness and misery that fills our lives, how can we escape torment and death?

My advice is to turn to God and embrace his truth no matter how painful. He can do much more than cheer a person up, he change their life for the better, and one day will make it perfect forever, perfectly satisfying you. Try his way if you already haven't already. He changed my life, and no "chemical imbalance" stopped him. On the link below can be found the true and only way to getting eternal life.
