because ur country is making u pay taxes on the bloody military, thats the problem with a "FREE" market... in the U.K our taxes go on education n health
What state do you live in? In Illinois they give dirt cheap mental healthcare. alot of places are making it that way, usually around 8 dollars a visit. If you call your local mental health clinic they may be able to work something out with you... Also, they are making the medicine cheaper too, they have prescripton assistance, make sure u ask about that, that is all free and then the stuff that isnt free usually costs less than 10 dollars at walmart for the perscriptions.. Another thing you can try is looking up groups in your area, you can also call the mental health clinic and ask them about free groups that they might have for you to try..AND another thing, if you need to go to the hospital, they have groups there and if you have low income usually they will pay for it for you if you fill out the paperwork, you can also call the regular hospital and ask about that, if they have mental health facilities, even if it is the same company but in a different town it should still work... call and ask about your situation, theres been more options lately
gosh i wish i could help you.
church group might help a bit
Health insurance costs have become ridiculous. However, you need to see a doctor. If you belong to a church, see if the church will pay for your medical bills. Many churches do this. Or you could try going to your local health department. Explain your financial situation to them. They will understand. They will be low-cost anyway. But the main thing is that you need to see someone. Anxiety disorders can wreak havoc on your life. Don't prolong your suffering or your child's any longer.
I was extremely close to your situation, however, being a male, no young children. It ONLY takes one visit for a consiltation, at a regular doctor. Explain your problem. Try to get Lexapro. It will do the trick. In a short time, you will be on your way to coping with things, and figuring them out. It is brand new, and works great.
There has got to be some kind of public assistance for your city/ state, especially if you have a child. Are you a single parent? If so, I am pretty sure that there is some kind of a informational referral service in your town, such as a local church, homeless shelter etc... If they don't have that information, I'm sure they know where you can acquire it.
PLEASE DO NOT WAIT ON THIS ! You might not have hurt him yet, but it can if you don't seek the help you need NOW!
you're going through something a lot of people go through - especially folks with outrageous costs for health insurance... and as a mom with a 2 year old -- even more reason for anxiety. i have panic disorder and depression. i am coping through therapy and being on antidepressant (paxil).
look online for low cost/sliding scale health care, and/or mental health care. county hospital is the next place to check out, see what services they have there. for your well being, and for your son's, you need to get help right away. it sucks like crazy that its so complicated and expensive to get good care - but don't lose worry. there is help. check out local telephone book, those first few governmental pages with emergency numbers and different agencies might be a good resource, too.
try to accept where you're at right now - things are hard, you are doing the best you can and that is ok. give yourself some love and forgiveness for being human. being a mom is a hard hard job. look online for how to manage anxiety through relaxation exercises, affirmations, etc. join a group online of mothers going through the same thing.
You need a schedule and some stress reducing activity--I know, easier said than done. 2 year olds are very challenging to parent, but it will get better, honest! I'm sure
you love your son. Do you have any exercise channels or
exercise DVD's? Can you get one? Or just dance.
He might even enjoy dancing with you. You can dance during commercials, sing along with the radio or a CD. Make up sill words if you don't know them. Watch comedies.
Play peek a boo and run around where you live. Put your son in a stroller or other wheeled thing--wagon?-- and take a walk.
If you don't have one, maybe you can rent one and walk inside a local mall. Take him to a McDonald's that has a play center or a local park and let him play. You might enjoy chatting with another mom there. Have you heard about FlyLady.net? Not a parenting site, but it does have alot of good advice about getting on a schedule. It helps a lot of women, in all age groups, and is worth a shot. Good Luck!
Call the united way - seriously. In some communities you can call 211 (just like 911). The united way can help you find the resources to help you deal. There may even be what's called a "crisis nursery" near by. These are places where you can drop off your kid for a few hours- no questions asked - when you know you are freaking out and don't want to put him at risk. You should be really proud of yourself that you are ready to deal with this. There is help available - hang in there.
Hello Shannon
First of all, I am praying for you. You should contact your doctor he/she can help or may refer you to a person or groups that provides free services or services on a sliding scale. Local churches can also help you too.Do you have any friends or family you can confide? Shannon you are not alone million of people are struggling with some of the same issues as you. Take care of yourself. I know you will be well.
Most mental health clinics offer services on a sliding scale for those without insurance. Also Catholic Charities is an option if your local branch provides counseling services. They have a sliding scale and will even waive a fee in some circumstances. Ours also has a mental health clinic which operates the same way and they treat everyone regardless of religion.
As far as meds, there are a number of programs for free medication and a clinic psychiatrist can refer you. They also can often provide people with samples for a long period.

I answered a question about panic attacks and recieved the best answer award so ill tell you the same thing i told them:
PANIC ATTACKS CAN BE CONTROLLED!!!!!!!!...
Get this into your head and firmly believe it, thats the first step and the most important. secondly you must learn how to BREATHE. when your panicking you need to go back to basics. breathe in through your nose VERY SLOWLY and as you breathe out through your mouth VERY SLOWLEY say to yourself, RELAX. do this three times and then return to normal breathing, if your still panicking then continue the breathing cycle untill your calm. Panick attacks do pass but in the mean time if you dont focus on your breathing you WILL hyperventilate and that makes the attack a hundred times worse so get your breathing under controll. when your breathing is stable then you need to practise shutting the world out for a few minutes, if bub is crying, to bad. getting control of yourself is the most important thing for you and the bub. im a mum of a baby and two disabled kids and i suffer from extreme anxiety so please trust me.
continue to breathe and take your mind away to a 'safe' place. be that a happy memory or a tropical island or anything that makes you feel safe. i have panic attacks when im out in public and i have to stop, breathe and 'run away', closing my eyes and just standing there for a few minutes. stay calm and remeber that the panic attack will pass. if you can do this then your on the road to recovery. the next thing that you need to do is get yourself some help. if you are in australia i can link you up with many different agencies and mental health. my email address is Violetskyebyrne@yahoo.com so if your in australia please email me and tell me where you are and ill get you some names, addresses and phone numbers. if your not then maybe you can go to a public hospital when your having a panic attack and get them to help you. If you dont have anyone to look after the bub most hospitals will admit the child into the peaadiatric ward if your having a short stay, otherwise deparment of comunity services (maybe a different name where you are?) will look after bub while your in hospital. pose a new question stating where you are and ask the group if anyone knows what services are available to you in your area. you could try calling an ambulence when your having a panic attack. even if they dont take you to hospital they could at least tell you where you can go for help. Good luck and remeber to breathe. Violet
Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. The following steps will eliminate, or at least significantly reduce, your panic attacks and anxiety (all for free too):
1.Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.
2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks, mild depression and anxiety etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com
3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. You can get free downloads online, e.g. http://www.studentservices.utas.edu.au/c...
With each step practise makes perfect. (i.e. practise the steps every day, not just when you are feeling bad). I hope you feel better soon. Best of luck!
