What kind of side effects should I expect from Buspar? (anxiety med)?

Question:
I have been taking Paxil for anxiety for about 3 months, and I have gained 14 pounds during that time. I called my Doctor, and she switched me to Buspar. I took my first one last night, and I woke up with some "tummy issues" but feel ok otherwise. I just started a new job and just need to know what to expect from this medicine! I don't want to freak out on them my first week! (just kidding - but you know what I mean!)

Answers:
I take Buspar for anxiety! I have no side effects! I hope you don't get any either! It works great for me. I just started taking it a month ago, but I didn't feel the effects until 8 days later so give it at least a week to start working. I'm on 45 mg aday! I wish you luck, if it doesn't work for you tell the doctor and they can try you on something else. Hugs!
The pharmacy should have given you a flyer with the side effects listed. If not, you can call them & ask for one.
It may be several weeks before you start to feel better, but do not stop taking buspar without first talking to your doctor.
If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking buspar and seek emergency medical attention:

* an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; hives);
* chest pain or an irregular heartbeat;
* headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, slurred speech, confusion, or blurred vision;
* numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, arms, or legs;
* depression; or
* uncontrollable movements of your arms, legs, tongue, or lips.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take buspar and talk to your doctor if you experience

* drowsiness or fatigue,
* dry mouth, or
* an increase in nightmares or dreams.

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
What Pinoy said is the general symptom list. I personally didn't have any luck with Buspar; it made me really nauseous and dizzy, it took my mind off of the stress that I was worried about and replaced it with nausea, dizzyness, headaches, and an overall "blah" feeling. :)

Good luck, though!
