i love Antivan for anxiety, it just takes the edge off, not Zombie-like like Xanax, or that detached feeling, that may be something like Borderline Personality Disorder?
All these types of medications make you feel detached from the world or they just plain not working for ya, either way you look at it. They make you do the opposite of what you don't want to do without them, but you feel the difference 3 times worst when you take the medications. Which means either way you lose!! Maybe try a weaker dosage.

The weight gain is a disadvantage when you take these types of medications and there is probably nothing much you can do about it, but watch what you eat. Eat healthier to stay healthy.

You need to talk to your Physician!!
Umm, if a person is feeling detached from the world, then they won't be able to answer your question.
You could be over medicated, Or this is your reaction to what you are on. A lot of people have trouble with xanex, especially if its mixed with paxil. But alone they can be good. I think Welbutrin is a Good one for many people. You need to talk to your doctor about this, he will help you find the right med.

Try the tapes by, Lucinda Bassett, they are Great. Look at the website www.stresscenter.com. You can Learn the skills to deal with things that are going on with you. It can change your life.
the best thing, quite honestly, is not to take meds at all. i've been depressed almost my whole life (diagnosed at 9 years) and they put me on everything they could think of. it only ever made me feel really weird, detached is a good word to describe it.

my way of dealing with depression, although it might not be seen as constructive, is small doses of ecstasy. yes, like the drug! there have been a lot of studies that show that X can change your brain chemistry. even if that doesn't happen, X gives you a much more positive outlook on life, even when you're sober (which i am almost all of the time).

i would strongly suggest that if you really hate meds, you should look into this... i know it makes me sound a little crazy, and i thought it was nuts too, until i tried it... google has a lot of accurate information, just try to steer clear of government websites that try to scare you by saying it burns holes in your brain (not true, that's ridiculous).
I took Paxil and felt basically high all the time, and like I was a spectator, rather than a participant in life. I never felt I owned my own skin. Very weird.
I won't take any drugs again. I hope you find a solution.
well pretty much any anti depressant will make you feel detached from the world and make you feel odd. i took paxil and felt like a zombie all the time. i had to stop it after a few weeks because i hated it. now i am on xanax for anxiety and although it can be addictive, i use a very small amount only and times i feel anxiety and it works wonderfully.
I'll let your doctor tell you what you should and should not be on for meds but as for the feeling detached that could from being on too high a dose.

I was on 60mg of Cymbalta before and it dawned on me one day that it seemed that I couldn't remember what I did last week or even the day before. It was like nothing was making any kind of impression on me at all. I got the dose lowered and felt much better.
I was diagnosed with anxiety back in november, but have suffered from it til now about a little over a year. i am only twenty years old, but dont really know why i started getting this but just to make a long story short, it kept on getting worse and worse each time. i didnt have any thing in particular to fear but just simple, irrational thoughts would give me a panic attack. I did my research about all this condition and found out that not only do i have anxiety but also panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder as well. one of my biggest problems are the feelings of unreality. Or another example would be a headache or a stomach ache. " o my god! what if its a brain tumor! Or what if its my appendix?!!" seconds later-- PANIC ATTACK!! and then in mid december I was lucky enough to find a book called Panic Away and it helped alot instantly, I cant wait to let my doctors know that my solution was not the lexapro or the Klonopin.
