Can childhood trauma stunt your emotional growth?

Question:

Answers:
A child can be caught in a state of depression and spend a lifetime trying to recover. A depressed child can hardly grow emotionally in this state of mind.
yes
It might. But it is never too late to seek therapy.
Absolutely. If this is a problem that who had, you should see a doctor. They are there to help you and guide you through the tough times. Also, if you are a Christian, it never hurts to talk to a pastor or reverend.
YES!! In all the people I know who had something really bad happen in their life whether they were kids at the time or not - ALL of them are screwed up. But, when they manage to work through it, they are able to deal and have more normal relationships, and react to life's normal ups and downs like the people they want to become would react. But most of them still act years younger than they are. It's like they got stuck in a loop they can't get out of.
Very much soooo. You must find someone to talk to it helps, especially when you can remember some of it and then you find out that you repressed most of it. Here are little blurbs from my researh that I did a few months back. Hope it helps

. Repressed memories are a way in which we hold in memories through self control, suppressed memories is more of the fact that we keep our memories from public knowledge

the mind is a wonderful thing, it helps protect, just as your skin does, from harm. It automatically goes into a mode to help us release emotions, repress memory after cortisol is released from our hormones (Franklin Institute 2006) and also helps us remember wonderful events in our lives. There are techniques to recalling memory, however it is best to seek professional help to recall factual memories vs. falsely ones.

Memories are often accompanied by feelings and emotions. (Schacter 1996) Repressed memories can affect anyone; it can happen through a traumatic event and more or less if it is within ones culture. People tend to mostly suppress emotions as a way to avoid expressing them.
Absolutely!! Childhood trauma can do more than affect your emotional health, it can also affect your mental health. It is imperative to connect with a professional who specializes in childhood trauma to help one get to the core of their issues and resolve them. It will take some time but if one persists they can be victorious. I know because I am a survivor!!
