Is schizoaffective disorder really a personality disorder?

Question:
Can someone make themselves have this disorder?

Answers:
Schizophrenia is not a personality disorder, no one can make themselves get schizophrenia. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms let someone know now. It will only get worst and soon you won't be able to tell real from not real.
I've driven myself to neurosis by considering the possibility that I'm insane but not aware of the fact. I see this as a potential precurser to schizophrenia. Just food for thought.

I began by trying to get into the head of a homeless schizophrenic I met. I'd imitate his gestures and his babble trying to understand where he was coming from. Before long I was doing these things unconsiously. Again just food for thought.
No. Schizoaffective disorder is not a personality disorder. It is a mood disorder with a range of schizophrenic symptoms.

You are referring to either: Schizoid personality disorder or Schizotypal personality disorder which are both classified as Cluster A personality disorders. These can rarely be faked because the behavior is odd and usually affects functioning of the person.
