My daughter is on Zooloft, when is the best time for her to take...?

Question:
zooloft before bedtime to help her sleep, she takes it at 8PM, but that seems to be to late for a 9PM bedtime.

Answers:
I took it for years and had few side effects. I am now on something else. I do however, take Ambien to sleep and I find that taking the pill at 7:15 gets me in bed by 9:30. So try 6:30 or 7. Tell her to drink lots of water throughout the day. I am hooked on Dasani. :)

I am surprised the doctor recommended Zoloft and not Trazadone. Of course, Trazadone can give you some crazy dreams. :)

Good luck! :)
Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results from the medication.

Take each tablet with water.
Zoloft may be taken with or without food.

Try to take the medicine at the same time each day. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

The oral liquid form of this medicine must be diluted before you take it. To be sure you get the correct dose, measure the liquid with medicine dropper provided, not with a regular table spoon. Mix the dose with 4 ounces (one-half cup) of water, ginger ale, lemon/lime soda, lemonade, or orange juice. Do not use any other liquids to dilute the medicine. Stir this mixture and drink all of it right away. To make sure you get the entire dose, add a little more water to the same glass, swirl gently and drink right away.

It may take 4 weeks or longer before you start feeling better. Do not stop using Zoloft without first talking to your doctor. You may have unpleasant side effects if you stop taking this medication suddenly. Store Zoloft at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
She can take it anytime prior to bed...it usually takes a few weeks for Zoloft to get in the system anyway. I've not heard of it being used for sleep though...it's an antidepressant. It may have the side effect of causing drowsiness but it's long-term use is for depression/anxiety. Taking it before bed lessens the chance of the side effects disrupting her daily activities.
Zooloft?...if im not mistaken thats an antidepressant...if so be very careful...my best friend was on it and it didn't work out for the best...her eyes and her spirit past away long before she did
I would have her take it at 7pm or even 7:30pm.
Been on it for years. Used to sell the stuff.

Zoloft affects us all different. The half life is 24 hours. You can take it QD or BId.

Once or twice a day.

If it makes you tired, tell her to take it in the morning. Or take it right after dinner.

You can also try splitting the dose, morning and night. Make sure you spread it out 12 hours evenly.

I take it in two doses. Helps to reduce the sweating side effect. Work with your doctor, but it can be taken at any point of the day.
she's alright. it is more important to take it consistantly than anything. at bedtime is what is generally recommended because it can help a person sleep. it isnt a sleeping pill though that has to get in your system before you can fall asleep. it works on chemicals in the brain, and to regulate them, not to knock her out like a sleeping pill might. the way she is taking it is fine.
