Why do I cut myself?

Question:
For years I've wanted to be a demonic sadistic satanic being.

I found that recently I cut myself on the arm and smile at the bloodshed. It's enjoyable, pain.

Is this some sort of mental illness?

Answers:
Yes it's ill. Have you seen animals chewing themselves? Please see a therapist soon.
You need to rethink everything and love yourself.
not unless it is becomes addictive. Still while cutting itself isn't a disease, it's often a sympton for other mental deseases such as borderline personality disorder, depression, bipolar...etc.
You are totally messed up. Do yourself a favor and check into a mental hospital right away!
duh
maybe its just because u r at a stage or u were met to do it
well things happen and you need to get a band-Aid and start cuting or choping what ever you were cuting or choping. Some people are not as careful as others. :)

Joy of seeing blood? Hmmm. I get mad and go run to the bathroom.
Yeah, I do it all the time. Yeah Right!

Mental Illness-yes.
Yeah, it's a mental illness. Well if you suffer from depression, that would explain it.
I think you know the anwser to your own question- please go see your doctor now!
No. It is a sign of weakness and fear.

Good luck though.
Yes, it is a sign that something else is wrong. There are lots of theories about why people cut themselves. Every person is different. I don't know how old you are, but you might want to call the National Youth Crisis Hotline. They might be able to help you understand. They might even be able to help you find someone in your area to talk to. You might as well try...

Their number is 1-800-442-HOPE.
It may be. It may be you have been programmed to feel that way, which would relate to dissociation. Most cutting involves dissociation.

You could explore it in therapy with a therapist EXPERIENCED IN WORKING WITH DISSOCIATION!

It's not likely medication will help you, unless you are schizophrenic or psychotic. That can be ruled out by a psychiatrist, especially one who understands the difference between psychosis and dissociation. Not all of them do, so ask first, before you take their meds.
"Mental illness" is an imprecise term. If you are asking whether this is something you should look into, then I'd say so. Consider this: If you continue cutting yourself and enjoying it, where would that lead? Would that lead to the kind of life you want?

You say you "want" to be a "demonic sadistic satanic being." That sounds pretty abnormal. If you're young, it could be a phase. Or it could be the start of something that will lead to serious unhappiness.

How about you have a conversation with a professional or a counselor? Could be a step toward a healthier life.
man your messed up
No, it's not mental illness. It's a form of expression and perhaps a little rebellion in you. Why don't you express yourself in another way? Learn to play the guitar, buy the biggest amp you can get your hands on and play the loudest bitchin' song you can come up with. Put all those thoughts you have in your head into words & lyrics. Say what you want to say with words & music instead of blood. Be different! Everybody bleeds red, but can everyone play as hot as you and say what's on their mind like you will be able to if you set your mind to it? No they can't! You, my friend, will be an original. People will ask you for advice and you will be in a position to give it. Forget the cutting thing - it's old - but get on the creative thing because you will be special if you want it bad enough.
