Answers:
I take Paxil, and remember the side effects ! The first two weeks I was tired and nauseous. The meds made me feel calmer after that, BUT I do remember being blaty and had the feeling I was hungry all the time. My stomach felt empty and upset for a couple more weeks or so. I gained 8 lbs! But the yuckiness does subside. I lost the 8 lbs. Once in awhile I still get tired and nauseas from the med, I figure, BUT the outcome of my life has been tremendously wonderful!!!
You might consider yourself lucky. According to the book "Selling Sickness" some people have side effects from Paxil that are similar to receiving an electric shock. Trying to get off the drug actually increases the frequency of these shocks.
I have never felt that but nausea I have felt. What seemed to work for me was to cut back on my dosage a bit. Don't miss a day though. When I missed a few days because I didn't have the money to refill I felt like my whole body was twitching. Like I had turrets or something.
I was on Paxil, and I think it's one of the worst drugs I was ever given. I had nausea with it, and then when the nausea would start to subside (after a month or more), the Paxil didn't help with my anxiety anymore. Its effects would diminish. So the dr. would increase the Paxil, and I'd get side effects again...and then when the side effects lessened, so did the effectiveness. This is the definition of an addictive substance!

I was up to 60 mg. after 6 mos. Then it took me SIX MONTHS to wean off of it! It was like hell. I had nausea with it, and I had to cut back in 5 mg. increments, and at the last month, I couldn't even stop the last 5 mg. I had to pinch a piece off of that, too, and take it, or get bad side effects.

While weaning off of it, I would be in the middle of a sentence, talking and explaining something at work, and totally forget what the topic was. Other times at home I would lose my temper and start screaming about something really inconsequential. I am not a screaming person! I am a calm, caring person, but I would be screaming and furious before I knew what hit me.

I vote to ask the dr. for another drug.

Someone I work with (a school teacher) used to take Paxil, and she has those electric shocks after a year of being off it. And she has memory loss, too.
