Depression again?

Question:
3 years ago I had depression. I tried commiting suicide and I cut my arms when I felt overwhelmed or over emotional. I went to a psychiatrist and I continue to see her still. In fall of last year she told me that she thinks that I might be out of my depression, but to watch out because it could come back. And for the past maybe 6 months I think it might have. I was on welbutrin for a year but I stopped taking it, because I felt like it didn't work. I tried to deny it and act happy for 2 years, because I don't think It can come back this soon. But I acutally cut my arm again earlier this month becuase I felt like I needed to. I sometimes feel paranoid and my "symptoms of ocd" have become worse, is OCD even something that can come out of depression? I have days where I feel like everyone around me hates me and I beat meself up for doing things during the day that I though I shouldn't have because of people's reactions. So, can depression come back soon after ridding yourself of it?

Answers:
Yes, absolutely. You should call your psychiatrist immediately and let her know what is going on. She will be able to get you back on the right track only if you tell her. If you feel suicidal, please go to the ER now and get help. Don't wait. OCD and depression are linked and your worsening of symptoms may be caused by depression getting worse. I will not tell you that you should not beat yourself up or worry what others think. I, too, am battling depression and I know that you cannot just make it go away. If you feel that the meds stop working please tell your psychiatrist so that she can put you on something different. I have been on 4 different meds trying to find the right one. One thing I know is that you cannot try to deny it any longer or act happy because it will not work. Depression is not something you can just pull yourself out of, it takes help and support. Do you have a good relationship with your family? If so please tell them what is happening, too. If you are close, then they can help support you as you get treatment. Please do not wait to get help.
Depression is tricky to detect..you can be feeling happy on the outside but inside you're in a interminable rut..i wouldn't suggest commiting suicide again..life is very precious..If it happens to come back again then step up to the plate and crush it out of your life..it will soon pass
some people have to stay on medication or their depression will return in a matter of a few days to weeks. Sound like you need something to help you. OCD usually requires medication long term.
