Bipolar... on lots of med... but?
Question:
Answers:
Meds are not a cure all. You will still feel depressed from time to time, the meds are just there to help stabilize. Of course they are not helping too much now, since your breakup is really making you feel bad. Do not think they are just happy pills so they will make all that hurt go away. You just got dumped and that can make anyone feel down. Just stay as positive as you can and DO NOT spend the whole day on the computer. Get out and go for a walk...just stay moving.
What is the question?
I think you probalary needed to check into the local clinic and receive some inpatient care, mybe a change of medication and further assesments.
Guys that know that you have this problem will use you, taking the advantage of you. I think you need therapy, because meds will not stop you from being pessimistic.
Sure you can get depressed. It's situational depression, just like everyone else has when they get dumped. If you were at your "baseline," and by that I mean everything was just fine before, it's just a little dip. If you have a counselor, you might want to vent a bit. Just because you're on the appropriate medications doesn't mean you won't feel crappy about your boyfriend's actions. Ask your friends who aren't bipolar about how long it would take them to get out of a funk like yours, and ask them to help keep you accountable. If they think you're overdoing it with your grief process, get an appointment for your doctor, not for more meds, but for assurance that you're doing just fine and having a normal reaction to a bad situation.
I hope for the best for you!
Probably be nice to go talk to a therapist, being dumped by a boyfriend is a depressing experience so you might not see the signs of it yet.
I think that you are having a normal emotional response to breaking up. Of course you would feel depressed especially if you are the one who got dumped. If you have a therapist it might help to talk about it or talk to your friends. I would agree with what you said that you don't need more meds for this. They are not supposed to take away the pain or joy of everyday life, just the abnormal highs and lows. Talk to your doctor as well for reassurance.
