I have bipolar also, and I know how hard it can be sometimes. It is true, your medicine can only make you so happy. But if you find you are getting sad after only two minutes of being happy, you might need to try a new medicine - one that helps stabilize your mood more. I found valproic acid (epival) helped my mood stabilize.

I think someone with bipolar can be just as happy as someone else, you don't have to live a less happy life. Everyone has their own path to finding happiness and you will find yours. For me, I try to remember that life is short and that we are all different and just try to appreciate every moment I get. When I get down, I try to remember it will pass and that I will feel better soon.

Eating fish helps people with bipolar since the omega will help regulate your mood. Also when you get down, think of it as a cloud passing through the sky, it is just a mood and it will pass the way clouds pass in the sky.

A lot of people with bipolar end up leading very successful happy lives. IF you try to keep a positive attitude and take the right medication, exercise and get enough sleep it will help. And you will find you get happier in life as you learn more about how to manage your moods and figure out what will make you happy in life.

When you are depressed, instead of eating, maybe go for a walk or read a book or magazine or have a diet soda. If you start exercising, it will help with bipolar and help you lose weight.

Good luck and I hope you find a way to stay happier for longer. It will help to talk to a psychiatrist if you find you can't get better on your own. Either way, you do have a lot of hope for the future. Turn hope into action and go after the kind of life that will make you happy.
HI!! I can't say I know exactly how you feel, But I can tell you I have a son who has bipolar. Sweetie it's a long road, and no medicine will make you completely happy, But if you are sad all the time, maybe you are not on the meds yet. What are you taking? There are therepy for people with mood disorders and they do help. My son sees a physciatrist and therapist regularly, while he is still trying to cope with his mood disorders, he is coming along well. Keep in mind he was diagnosed at the young age of 3. It takes a long time to fully understand what Bipolar is. I can explain it to you, But which form of Bipolar do you have? 1 or 2? Also A good way to not eat when you are sad, because I also had this problem with my son, try doing something constructive. It will take your mind off of food... even if it is coloring in an coloring book =] Anyway, If you have any other questions feel free to email me! There are alot of alternatives out there! And remember don't give up!! Good Luck with your journey!
I really don't know anything about the Bipolar Disorder but I have a web site that you can visit that may give you the information that you want/need.The site is www.psychcentral.com.On their homepage at the top they have a tab for quizzes, you can go to that page and check out the various quizzes that they have listed.there is one on there for Bipolar that you can take and print out to show your parents if you want to.
There is also another site that I've seen advertising on the web--I think I've seen it somewhere on some of these Answer pages that's called RevolutionHealth (I think).
Hope you find the answers that you are looking for.
thats not bipolar at all. why are you even on medication at 14? bloody hell let your body sort itself out at least until your 18, then you will know if you are bipolar or not. Not being happy and eating food is not bipolar. Bipolar is being manic for at least a week minimum and also having periods of depression also. Being happy one minute then sad the next is normal or its hormones
