How can I distract myself?

Reading is always good, especially at night. It takes you into a story that is probably much different than what is happening in your life. It will distract you from whatever your going through if you can find a really good book. It would be even better if you could find some books in a series, because then once you finished a book you could just move on to the next one in the series. I know some people don't like reading all that much, but there is something out there for everyone to read that will catch their attention.
Hope this helps.
i am a busy body too...i have found that running is the best cure for me. If you dont like running try something that will give you the same kind of zen experience...i also color coordinate my closet.sad i know. i know what thats like.
Distracting yourself may seem easier than dealing with the issue, but I'm speaking from experience when I tell you that that method can really be more destructive than helpful. Try dealing with the issue head on. That's the only way it'll go away and stop bothering you. Good luck.
Music always helps.
Grab a portable CD player, or your ipod, put on the head phones and sing along. You'll be too busy trying to sing along with the lyrics to think about your problems.
Also sports help.
Especially soccer.
Or video games. They work well for me.
But you wanna know what really works for me? Cleaning shoes with shoe cleaners and water proffers. It may sound strange, but I actually find it fun!
I think the best thing you can do is try to live only in the present moment. Try to become ultra aware of everything happening around you. Pay attention to all the sights and sounds and enjoy them for what they are. Try not to analyze but just enjoy the world because it is happening! Good luck.

There are two methods I use to "get away from it all". One is music. If you don't know how, learn to play the guitar. It takes a lot of focus and concentration to learn. Learn different styles. If you like country, learn to play the blues, etc. The other method I use is to write. I write fiction. I don't write to try to get published; I write to increase my communication skills and, maybe this is just me, but if I write a story where I control the actions and outcomes it helps me to deal with life a little better and a little easier. And I find it enjoyable to write. Just take a pad of paper and a pencil and write a story. It doesn't even have to have an ending; write scenes, make 'em funny. That usually improves my mood.
I am so happy you understand the key to suffering is distraction.Thats pretty much all you can do and it is a great way to deal with the madness untill it ends. When you are busy doing somthing and concentrating on that, you are not aware of your afflictions right? So, just keep busy there are a million ways to distract you self.Music,excersizing,movies,... to a friend, I could go on and on and so can you. Life is good my sweet, you will be ok. It will all be ok.I thought I would be trapped in my madness and confusion forever. But, I am free and happy and alive. So to, will you be dear one. You will look back at these times and wonder how you ever allowed yourself to succumb to the madness. Peace to you, and all those that you love!!
I know your feeling, i had to move from NY to TX.
I like to have my 'Zen' time, i really like yoga.
Running lets me forget everything.
Im a bit of an artsit, so staying in my room or basement and just drawing really gets me very very centered on that, nothing else.
At night, i like to take a nice warm bath, then go right to bed (using my favorite blanket, of course)
Then, put on some soothing music.
Best of luck.
