How do I start wanting to go to sleep.?

Question:
lately I've been not wanting to go to sleep and when I do sleep it's at 5 a.m.. there are several reasons. one sometime back I had a dream about me losing all my teeth and it rattle me. another reason is I have sleep apnea and a breathing machine. it's a hassle and I take it off in my sleep. not to mention that scares me. there are several other reasons but the result is paranoia about going to sleep.

I know I need sleep to live. so how o I get back to loving sleep?

Answers:
I have always heard that it's always good to do something relaxing just before you go to sleep. Try taking a warm bath or shower, that always works for me. Hope this helps.
I keep having dreams about losing my teeth, too.
i dunno if i can get u back to LOVING sleep. u mite want to see a therapist or hypnotist for that but.
u can try taking a hot bath or drinking warm milk (it works for some ppl) basically, just do stuff that will tire u out and eventually force u to sleep. seriously sleeping at 5 a.m. is really unhealthy.
good question and i know how u feel. i am usually up till about 3AM. i usually am watching tv or on the internet. srry, but i dont know the answer either.
i've tried everything over the years,as far as meds.i got some lunesta.it is a miracle!!
Have you talked with your dr, about this? Maybe he can prescribe and anti-anxiety medication until you get back to feeling more comfortable about going to sleep. I wish you good luck.
I had a lifelong problem going to sleep - even after working or playing hard. Recently, my doctor put me on ambien, and it has been a blessing - I go to sleep quickly, sleep well, don't feel drugged the next day, or have any other side effects that I'm aware of.
Thank you
yup...same dreams here! the best way to get a good nights sleep is when u lay in your bed, you gotta not give a crap about ANYTHING in the world or whats gonna happen in the future...that what i do and it works! i only do it sometimes thoguh cuz i dont wanna get used to it cuz im afraid it might not work for me anymore!
I have sleeping problems as well. I had a crazy dream that really freaked me out and feared sleep for a while but that phase ended yet I still had the sleep problems. What worked for me is to associate my bed with ONLY sleeping. I try not to do anything in my bed but sleep. I do homework, or watch TV in my bed as little as possible. Also, if I am going to watch TV at night I put it on the same channel every night (for me it is Nick at night and I watch the "Fresh Prince" every night and that makes me go to sleep because I started to associate the TV program with sleep as well. Also, my mom always told me to drink a big glass of HOT milk, when the milk proteins are heated they cause the release of melatonin which promotes sleep.

Hope this helps! Good luck and sweet dreams!
Look at something that is permanent, say a traffic sign, or crome letters on a dashboard, or printed words on paper. Without blinking your eyes, look away for a second and look back. Is it the same? Are the crome letters the same? Is the traffic sign the same? Of cours it is. Printed words can't change. Crome letters can't change.

But do this again. Look at something that you know to be permanent (not the tv). Then look away without blinking your eyes. Look back at it. Is it the same? Of course it is. Permanent things do not change.

But do this again and again. Over and over again. It only takes a few seconds. Do this maybe a hundred times a day. Just do it. It takes no effort. Do it again and again. Over and over. 200 times a day. Look, look away without blinking, and look back. Is it the same? Do this for 2 weeks.

And now the payoff. You will have conditioned yourself to do this automatically. One night...you will do this automatically while you are dreaming. Only when you look back, it will have changed! The impossible will happen...printed words will be different. It will hit you like a ton of bricks. You will realize, during a dream, that you are asleep and dreaming. What a fun revelation. You will be able to consciously control your dreams. You will be able to better yourself by practicing, perfectly, whatever you want.

It is called lucid dreaming and you will learn a lot about yourself and life in general. You will want to be asleep so that you can be President, or an astronaut, or on another planet. Anything can happen that you want to happen. It is possible to become better at sports, or your job, because in your dreams you can learn and feel how to do things perfectly.

I swear that this will work. Just do the 'Look, look away, and look back' exercise 1 to 2 hundred times per day and you will see that I am not just BSing. Don't be afraid. If you want to go back to to non-lucid dreaming, just quit doing the exercise and you will return to 'regular' dreaming.
