Over the counter ...?

I don't know of any OTC anti-anxiety pills that are readily available at most pharmacies -- I'll suggest, however, that you consider something like:
Diphenhydramine (benadryl): it's an odd suggestion, I know -- but hydroxizine is a medication in the same class as benadryl, and is often used for treating anxiety and agitation.
From an herbalist standpoint, you have a couple of options -- the most likely to help you would be valerian root.
I'm not sure where you can get it in your area -- but, you can order it online for relatively decent prices from:
www.swansonsvitamins.com or
www.puritanspride.com
you may also want to consider St.John's Wart -- it's an herbal antidepressant that works similarly to SSRI's -- it modifies seretonin activity in the brain -- SSRI's are often used as long-term treatments for anxiety.
The only thing that has helped me with tension, is Excedrin Tension Headache. That's it. You'll have to see your doctor or take that smelly Valerian (a mineral in the Vitamins).
Try st johns wart. You need to go to a health store like GNC and get the more expensive stuff. It will work better. Remember, you get what you pay for.
