Are these feelings normal? Or something I should seek counseling about?
Question:
I've been having dreams, a lot recently, of catastrophic events. Bombs falling before my eyes, The Empire State being attacked, and last night even of Nazis coming to my apartment and having to hide from them. (I'm not Jewish)
It's not something thats life-stopping, it doesn't effect my day-to-day activities, but its not a fun thing to experience.
Should I seek professional help? Will this ever go away? Credible sources are appreciated! Thank you.

It sounds like you have an after effect from the 9/11 event. It must have been terrrifying. I have read that men who serve in wars have dreams about it for the rest of their lives. I think you should have talked about your horrifying experience before this. Yes, do talk to someone professional if you can. Good luck!
Sounds like you are suffering from PTSD-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Very common for the people who were affected by the attack. My best friend had to move out of the state because it was affecting his health, he was four blocks away when the second plane hit. You might want to seek some counseling to work through it. Good luck.
it sounds like you have some of the symptoms of post traumatic stress - and no wonder.
yes, talking to a professional, who has experience with PTSD patients could help a lot. It isn't likely to go away without professional help - you need to rewire your thoughts, sort of, and you need a pro.
There are probably lots of sites for PTSD online.
Yeah gurl plz seek help, same thing happens to me living so close to ground zero. Do so because this isn't something you have to live with, there is help out there.
it sounds like you have been through quite the trauma. yes, I would seek some help, youf fears wont just go away, you need to face them and get to the bottom of it. you'd think there would be some support groups in that area because I'm sure others are going through the same things as you, and it would be good to share with others like yourself. good luck!
It sounds like post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can happen as a result of experiencing a stressful situation (9/11 would be a good example of that). While it's good that this is not affecting your day to day activities, you should seek treatment for it. I'm going to guess since you said that you've lived in Lower Manhattan your whole life that you still live there, so call around to different mental health clinics in NYC and find a therapist that deals with PTSD. Most therapists know how to work with it, some people just specialize in treating it. Also, you might want to consider medication to ease some of the symptoms (the nightmares, the panic, the tenseness in your body) and willhelp your anxiety over all. Hope this helps.
A doctor will probably say post traumatic stress disorder or panic disorder. agoraphobia may or may not accompany this. But these are all "labels". Yes you should seek counseling. Remember if anything interferes with your ability to live a "normal" existence, then it should warrant the attention of a doctor. You obviously are experiencing panic attacks.
I am a mental health professional and what you are describing is PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). Considering what you have gone through it fits the mold. Yes please seek help with this or it will get worse not better. If you go to NAMI.ORG they have listings of providers nation wide and in your area. Best of luck and please keep me posted!
I would get help. I couldn't imagine how terrifying that was!! It must have had a big effect on you. And just think, getting professional help can't hurt you at all!! So why not?
