I've recently learned some dialectic behavioral help which is trying "Breathing Techniques." Close your eyes and take deep breaths. Try to empty your mind of all outside influences and noises. Breathe in through your nose and hold a couple of seconds and then breathe deeply out of your mouth slowly. This has been helping me greatly lately. Even through a scare of breast cancer. Don't though do it so much and so often so you hyperventilate. I could say too? Maybe a therapy visit would help but only you can make that decision. No one - even the best meaning of helpers that we are intending to be - can force you to take some Meds or see a therapist. I would recommend it though. It does make life a whole lot easier.
Why are you so against meds? Do you take Tylenol for a headache? I know there can be a stigma, but it may help. Try meditation too.
Yeh, i have tendency to get off working too. Try to go somewhere that won't distract you, or listen to some music (not loud) to help you concentrate. Tie your legs to the chair if necessary.
