Can i be bipolar??

Question:
what is bipolar??
and
what are the symptoms??

Answers:
Bipolar Disorder is classified by Moods that swing up and down. For instance you could be up and happy and nothing in the world could go wrong. The next minute the whole sky could be falling on your head. Your mood just go up and then down and it drives you nuts. You also may have trouble sleeping because of rapid thinking. Rapid thoughts going through your head and when you are on the down side all that you want to do is sleep. If this is you then you need to see a doctor for a diagnosis if this is happening to you. Good Luck
its a mental condition where u kinda loose ur mind and emotions in an "episode" which they get! like its not all the time but its evry once in a while that they kinda go crazy!
Have you ever heard of a god damn search engine? Why are you asking us to search for you? Just go to google, type in "bipolar" and hit the links. Jesus.

You may or may not be bipolar but you sure are dumb and/or needy.
Really, You can be whatever you want.

What is bipolar:

One textbook definition describes bipolar disorder as a major affective disorder in which an individual alternates between states of deep depression and extreme elation. This is misleading in that bipolar disorder - also known as manic depression or manic-depressive illness - is much more complicated than just alternating between depression and elation.

Symptoms:

Increased energy
Decreased sleep

Little fatigue

An increase in activities

Restlessness
Speech Disruptions
Rapid, pressured speech

Incoherent speech (generally not present in hypomania)

Clang associations: the association of words based on their sound
(For example, my ex-husband once carried on for some time about vacancies, vagrancies and bacon seeds.)
Impaired Judgment
Lack of insight

Inappropriate humor

Inappropriate behaviors

Impulsive behaviors

Financial extravagance

Grandiose thinking
Increased or Decreased Sexuality
May include inappropriate or sexual behavior
Changes in Thought Patterns
Distractibility

Creative thinking

Flight of ideas

Disorientation

Disjointed thinking

Racing thoughts
Changes in Mood
Irritability

Excitability

Hostility

Feelings of exhilaration
Changes in Perceptions
Inflated self-esteem

Hallucinations (not present in hypomania)

Delusions (not present in hypomania)

Paranoia (generally not severe in hypomania)

Increased religious activities
Hypomania also differs from bipolar mania in that the symptoms are generally less severe so that they do not cause significant impairment of daily activities.

But really, you can be whatever you want - if you want to be Bi-Polar then you really should persue your dreams...
I would think that someone in your family would have taken you to a doctor if you were bipolar. It is characterized by severe mood swings, from a very "manic" phase where the person doesn't sleep much, can't calm down, creative people get creative during this time. Talking nonstop, etc.

The depressive phase is just that. The person can be sort of catatonic. They don't do anything but sit around and are depressed. There is a lot more to it than this, but this is it in a nutshell. Good luck!
Bipolar is a mental health problem in which one can get mood swings from highs to depression. Anyone can get it and there is also proof that it is genetic as well. some of the symptoms are being aggressive, very happy, very sad, feeling hopeless, worthless, having thoughts that you are very powerful and many others. Go to wikipedia.org for more information.
well, there are two types of bipolar disorder...bipolar 1 and bipolar 2. bipolar 1 is a presence of only one manic episode and no past major depressive episodes. it happens "out of the blue." bipolar 2 is a presence or history of one or more major depressive episodes, presence of at least one hypomanic episode, there has never been a manic episode, the symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in important areas of functioning.
What are your symptoms?

Some brief info cos most here don't really have it right.

BDI - Mania and depression. Mania is extreme racing thoughts, irrationality, possibly paranoia, delusion, and hallucinations. Depression is clinical major depression.

BDII - Hypomania and depression. Hypomania is subthreshhold mania. Does not include manic paranoia, delusions, or hallucinations. Also doesn't include raging mania or extreme irrationality. It does include hyper racing thoughts and not needing sleep. Depression is clinical major depression.

Mixed states are when both mania and depression occur at the same time. That would be why manic-depression is a more appropriate name. Bipolar implies opposite mood states, which doesn't really make sense.

Most bipolar episodes are less than three per year, and have periods of normality inbetween. Normal can go on for years with infrequent episodes.

Rapid cycling bipolar is more than 3-12 episodes per year. Again, there is normality in between.

Ultradian is cycling within a day. It is extremely rare.

Almost always, there are warning signs and initial symptoms. Bipolars managing their illness will get a med adjustment before a real episode starts.

There are very effective meds for bipolar and the majority are high functioning people living normal lives.
