What do you take for depression?

I've been on Zoloft, Cymbalta, Effexor and Serzone. Believe me, I've accepted the fact that I really can't live a happy, normal life without a little help. There's no shame in that, for ANY of us who are going through this. I look at it this way-- diabetics need insulin to help them along. We're no different-- we just need a little help for something different, that's all.
If you ever feel like just chatting-- even if it's nothing important-- please know that I'll listen. You can contact me anytime. Sometimes it's nice just to 'talk' with someone who knows what you're going through, you know? I'm never too busy to chat. This goes for ANYONE else on here who might just need a chat buddy, too!
Not necessarily. There are other drugs out there that you can take for clinical depression other than Prozac. If it doesn't work anymore ask your doctor to put you on something different. I have been on many medications and am now on Prozac. I was recently taken off of Lexapro because I was on it for five years and it wasn't effective for me anymore. Ask your doctor about a switch up. Good Luck
Tried pills and found gin works better
talk to your doctor and get off the prozac. or accept who you are and sell your hand guns
YOU SHOULD STOP THE DRUGS!!!!!!! ALL OF YOU
My Mother just died Aug. 1 and I'm taking Lexapro and Xanax. Seems to help so far.
I had depression before (years ago) and took Celexa ... I got off of it myself which wasn't right (and I paid for it) but a while after that I became Muslim, and NO JOKE I don't feel anything like the way I once did. It wasn't an overnight thing either but things just started changing...and I cannot say my life was so much better and that is why I stopped having depression because I had tons of trials after I converted.and I cannot say that it was that I began to have a completely different outlook on things because I 'had God' before Islam too.Subhanallah, it's hard for me to look back at my life with depression. It's surreal, it was me but it was like it was somebody else.
i take lexapro have taken zoloft and effexor. Everytime i have stoped takeing it has been awful My brother has a similar exp not a bad thing i sleep better have les moodines and function better with it i also take metatorol when get real ticked off that helps 2. Hope this helps :))
I was taking effexor for depression and it helped a little. I recently found out though that I was misdiagnosed over 20 years ago and that I actually am bi-polar. I am on the depression continuum with no manic highs. My doctor told me that people with that type of bi-polar are often misdiagnosed. Now I take a new medication(Invega) for bi-polar and my life has changed drastically. I have actually experienced happy days and I hadn't had one of those in over 15 years, literally. I wish I didn't have to take medication, but I know I will be on meds for the rest of my life and I accept that. I would rather take meds and have a good life and be able to deal with stressful events instead of considering suicide when the stress gets too bad. I'm glad you've accepted this is part of who you are. There is no cure for these and people like me and you who have them can deal with life's issues better when we accept this is just part of our genetic makeup. Good luck and may God bless you.
Hypericum (St. John's Wort) is a herbal drug used widely in Europe for depression. One takes either 600mg or 900 mg a day. There are very few side effects - the most annoying one being an increased sensitivity to UV rays, but different people experience different levels of this - some just wear sunscreen on their face & get more sunburns otherwise, others wear sunglasses whenever outside. It is NOT addictive, so one can go off it (or decrease it) when needed. It takes about 2 or 3 weeks to be fully effective, but improvements are sometimes noticed after a week or so.
Doctors here prescribe this before resorting to the other drugs. It really does work for "mild" or somewhat deeper depression, but not for severe cases. It is important to get it from a pharmacy, to make sure the quality of the herbs is at its best! There are cheaper ones available in drug stores, but in Germany at least, you can't be sure of how good it is. You can order it on the internet.
I think that the most important step is to accept the situation - good for you! Then, if you want to try something else, maybe a friend (or your hubby) can help your observations as to whether its working.
I wish you all the best!
i was on lexapro but that had nasty side effects for me (panic attacks that put me in the hospital) now im on cymbalta and that seems to be helping another thing that's helped me is NAMI the national alliance for mental illness Ive become a member and started going to support groups isolation is one of the most detrimental parts of depression it helps a lot to know you are not alone
whoa whoa whoa there. maybe you just try cheering yourself up with cheerful things before you start taking happy pills
First I was on zoloft and i hated it, it made me feel shakey and feverish. Then i was on prozac and it was awful because i had all those wierd dreams and i couldn't talk and answer quest clearly. Now i'm on celexa and it doesn't seem very effective. SCREW THOSE PILLS ANYWAY! I heard that they do something to your brain to brainwash u and make you a mental retard. So awful!!!!!!!!!...
jokes for laughter, because it's cheap medicine.
