Please help.ABILIFY is a medication used for depression ??
Question:
Answers:
if you are feeling really good and it hasn't caused any depression or suicidal thoughts then you are fine.
typically I would not just suggest stopping a medication cold, however being that the doctor prescribed a different one to take it's place I would do as the doctor ordered.
The doctor is not going to make you do something that is harmful for you. If you were to stop taking anti depressants altogether, then I would suggest weening yourself off. Again in this case listen to your doctor.
They are right. You can never just stop taking any kind of medication like those two. However you can stop taking one and begin the other. I have done this lots of times with medication changes and my doctor is the one who stopped it. Good Luck
Different types of medications work so differently, it's hard to make a blanket statement that covers them all.
Abilify addresses symptoms such as hallucinations, beliefs people are "out to get you" and other false intrusions of thought. (It works for other things too) My understanding is that you will receive the effect of the medication on the same day you take the pill.
But it is not an antidepressant. Most antidepressants work on a delayed reaction, rather than suppling the "missing chemical" my understanding is that they work to stimulate your body to produce what is missing.
Follow your Dr.'s directions on stopping and starting meds.
It's their job to know how and when to direct you.
