Books for molested victim?

Question:
hey i am a 17 year old female and was wondering ifanyone knows of any good books that would help me cope or at least read someone elses experiences who was molested, i am getting help but i feel i nedd something more so if anyone has any ideas of books to read let me know

Answers:
Here's a few good books I've found:
-The Body Remembers- it's about PTSD, not molestation specifically, but it has good info about how PTSD works, and techniques for dealing with flashbacks.

-Getting Through the Day, by Nancy Napier. I found this book very useful, lots of good info about how to deal with current difficulties caused by sexual abuse. It's got a lot of references, too- leads to other books.

-I don't remember the exact title of the next one, I think it's called "Working With Available Light." It has "Available Light" in the title. It's written by a man, and is the story of his wife's healing. She is a photographer, who was raped. I thought it was well-written, and it touched my heart.

-The Courage to Heal, by Ellen Bass. I read this one such a long time ago, I don't remember much of it, but I've heard it recommended a lot.

-If you're having problems with dissociation, try Stranger in the Mirror: Dissociation, the Hidden Epidemic. It think the author's name is Nancy Shapiro.

-You could try "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou. I found that one really intense, freaked me out a bit, but an amazing story.

There are so many good books out there, and it helps me a lot to read stories of survivors. And books by professionals too, both for the good info, and 'cause it makes me happy to know that there are people out there dedicated to healing this abuse. I found a lot of these books at my library, by looking using "sexual abuse," "rape," "dissociation" and other relevant topics as my key words.
There are survivor websites and message boards too. I think one is called "Rain." I wouldn't be surprized if Yahoo Groups has boards specifically for survivors. We're multiple, so we go to the multiple groups, but I bet there are others, too.

We're glad you're getting help, and hope this was helpful.
When Rabbit Howls by Truddi Chase was a good one. It can be kind of graphic, but it is based on a true story.
good question, i eeded to write something on this page so i can come back and get ideas for my self, i hope you dont mind,

i hope you get stronger in years to come and well done for getting yourself some help at a young age

best wishes for the future
