Sometimes when I close my eyes I see these disturbing images...?
Question:
Could this be some sort of disorder?
Answers:
It sounds like your imagination is staying awake while you're trying to sleep! What are you doing before going to bed? Are you gaming? reading? watching sci-fi?
Or, you might just have a terrific imagination - maybe a Stephen King thing? I sound like I'm making light of it, but I'm not. Perhaps if you (knowing it's harmless) went with the feeling.. develop/write a story around the glimpses you've seen. Could be fun ??
I never knew that those 'shooting stars and bright lights' that happened when I closed my eyes were normal until a dr. said 'everyone has that!'
If I'm way off base, I apologize in advance.
Before you go to sleep at night, "think happy thoughts." I know that sounds corny, but I'm serious. Every time you see a disturbing image, imagine something that isn't scary/makes you feel relaxed. If you're thinking about something that is terrifying, quickly change your thoughts. Eventually, they'll go away.
What are you doing right before bed? Avoid watching/reading anything scary before you go to sleep.

I have ocd and used to have that too. I would be going to bed, and I would close my eyes and immediatley the images would come. Painted red, blood, surgery like intestines and needles, and just general stuff that I couldn't even see but knew was scary. This is a symptom of ocd. They can come at any time and are not like hallucinating because you are perfectly sane it's just wierd when it happens. One time, some roofers where working on the roof above my room, and every time the staple gun went "bang" like into the roof I had this image of my body being nailed to to roof. Every time it happened a different part of my body was being stretched and nailed, oh, it was terrible. Anyway...didn't mean to bring up more stuff for you to think about but I just wanted to say that it might be ocd, and you're not crazy
