Is it normal to WANT to feel depressed?

Question:
Sometimes (like right now) i just want to feel bad for myself so i can shut myself in m room and jus thave a good cry. is that normal?? is it normal to want to keep yourself from being happy and just shut yourself out from everything and everyone? :[ i want to be happy, but then again i don't. i don't know why..it's ridiculous and i hate/love it.

Answers:
Many people are addicted to suffering. Yes, it's ridiculous.

It's ridiculous because people pursue happiness. That's what they claim they want.

It's pursuit of happiness that leads to suffering. Happiness is already here.

Pursuit is a seeking that is trying to escape oneself. And you are happiness.

So there it is. Are you ready for what you seek or would you rather keep seeking?
I'm not sure I would call it normal, but not unusual maybe?? I have never felt that way, but I'm sure you're not the first. Maybe you're just wanting to release some emotional tension. Put in a good chick flick and cry your eyes out.
I think what you're saying is that you want to express what you're really feeling instead of acting the opposite so that others won't be alarmed or whatever. I remember feeling that way at times before my circumstances changed so that it's easier for me to just be who I am now.

One of the benefits of psychotherapy is that you can be whoever you really are with your therapist. Some people in therapy have nowhere else they can do that. Do you feel bad so often that a therapist would be worth your time?

Sometimes I wish people would give up on the word "normal". It's common to have feelings of all sorts you don't want to share even with your closest friend, but that's not healthy. That would drive me to see a therapist if I had issues like that.
